Thanks!!!

In the mean time, I took a vid of my SS exhaust as is - which is FULLY stock - NO mods, not even intake, nothing. What I will probably do, is do the exhaust before I do my CAI and take vid so that I can post a true difference between the two

So just for convenience sake I'm linking the axle-backs from Flowmaster I've been comparing as well as the cat-back:

The first is the outlaw axle-back. It has a slightly higher pitch and more... angry... sound in my opinion. The second is the AT axle-back which to me sounds a lot deeper with more rumble. The THIRD video is the full cat-back that I was looking at that got me all warm and tingly lol... (but it might have been the aussie talking in the video hahaha). Problem to me with the last video is that while I want to believe the sound increase, I can also tell there's a change in the recording quality or least the volume of output not just because of the exhaust.

I ordered last week my Flowmaster AMT cat back, I don't have them on my SS but wish to install them really soon.
I really loved the sound in the videos and read in some threads that they sound more agressive and throttier in person...

I was considering MagnaFlo or FloMaster axle-backs, but after hearing straight pipes, I was convinced to save my money. I'm very happy with the deep throaty sound and it only cost me $50. One thing - keep your stock mufflers, don't give'em away to the shop. Another thing, the AFM will drive you crazy no matter what you do with your exhaust system...ugh, I hate when it kicks in, even in Manual mode.
Question for ya, you say that the AFM even drives you crazy even in manual mode ?? Do you know about the 2 shift sequences to disable the AFM while driving in manual mode?? I use it all the time and the AFM is disabled until you enable it agin..

I think that requires further explanation for those of us who don't know about it heh

OH and update. I'm discussing some other options with Mike at Haddad Motorsports. Holding off on the Flowmasters and might end up doing a temporary muffler and resonator delete for the immediate future for a sound boost until I decide on an exhaust system that I'll wanna keep around in the event I end up with a supercharger

I happen to like this exhaust, its a custom dual 3" all the way. I've got dual dynomax ultra flow straight through full size mufflers on it. Kooks 1 7/8" LT's with high flow metalic cats.

stop showing off. was there supposed to be an example of exhaust sound in there among the tire spinning :P

I liked what I could hear though. And speak of the devil, I was just pondering shooting you a PM regarding 2.5" or 3" pipe. If I do the muffler delete temporarily, I'm now going back to deciding if it's just as simple as getting some pipe to throw on or if i want to at least get an xpipe and what not while i'm at it.

OK, here goes, I wrote about this in my axleback install update in this section about 2 weeks ago,so here it is, I learned of froma couple of guys here in this section when everyone was complaining about the AFM and they posted it, so here it is,,when you are stopped at a light or just starting out, put the shifter down in sport mode, tap your downshift button on the steering wheel and in the DIC it will show the tranny in 1st gear-m for manual mode, tap the upshift button and it will show 2nd gear which is what the L99's will start off in in manual mode, accelerate normally and shift up to 3rd, then back down to second real quick and back to 3rd and the AFM is now disabled. In manual mode you must upshift for the tranny as it won't do it for you, hence manual mode, you can shift when you feel the need, downshifting in manual mode the car will do it for you and it will only down shift to 2nd, if you want 1st, you need to tap the downshift button to get there. The second sequence is when you are cruising in drive mode , pull the shifter down to sport mode and downshift from 6th to 5th,to 4th then back up and the AFM will now be disabled. It will stay disabled as long as you stay in manual mode and don't put the car into nuetral, once you do that it will automatically enable the AFM again, then you have to start over again. When you are driving in the manual mode with the AFM disabled if you want it back on, just put the shifter back into drive, or just press and hold the upshift button for about 3 seconds and you will see the sport mode show back up in the DIC and the dreaded AFM DRONE is back..Good luck, have a blast and enjoy your L99 Camaros. I drive mine around all the time in manual mode, just like a stick car and it is alot of fun..

So another update about my exhaust decisions... and what I ended up with today...

I spent the day @ Haddad's Motorsports, and lemme tell ya if you don't know them already, you should because they are amazing and great to hang and work with. SO, we got my car up on the racks and took off the exhaust from the bolts after the cats just so I could get a good idea on the full sound of the car (well, with cats still on obviously)...

Gotta say. I LOVED it. I'd leave it like that forever if I could. Which I could, but ... anyway... plenty of reasons NOT to do that... So we found a prototype Borla xpipe and resonators. We had the mufflers chopped off, and the tips off of them. Then got the resonators chopped and put on the Borla. Other than the x-pipe and their resonators, we did straight pipe to the stock tips. Little quieter than it was without anything (obviously), but still louder, and meaner, and AMAZING sounding. I have some video somewhere I'll post soon
