I must say I disagree on the one time I heard the L99. At normal rpm I hardly heard it, and when the guy gunned it I wasn’t impressed.

I’m a hardcore Camaro fan, but in no way did the exhaust sound bad ass.

After market exhaust is mandatory.

and for some reason a lot of my fellow riders think it is cool to run straight pipes, or at the very least the loudest pipes they can find, quoting this silly line that loud pipes save lives... stupidest thing I've ever heard, the sound goes out the back and it's too late to do you any good , it's not going to stop that car from pulling out in front of you.. all it does is tick off our fellow motorists. Louder is not always better, it doesn't mean better performance, it just means louder ...
100% not true

I own a motorcycle and once will I was in my truck I heard a motorcycle, but could not see it. It was in my "blind spot", but since I could hear the motorcycle, but not see it I knew it was there. Therefore, in this case his "loud pipes" helped me realize that a motorcycle was nearby.

+1000

...and for any motorcyclist riding around with stock pipes, it truly is a lifesaver to upgrade to aftermarket, louder pipes. There have been several occassions where I almost changed lanes at 70 mph and would have wiped out a rider had I not heard them come up on me first. Cars are the same way. On the interstate, I usually sense/hear aftermarket performance exhausts coming up on me before the car gets in my lane change path.

Maybe I'm just a dumb redneck but the Stock exhaust sounds well like nothing! It's dead quite...even at WOT standing right behind it. GM got a lot of things right with this car but sorry the exhaust is not one of them.

I plan to paint the mufflers flat black to blend in with the rear facia. I saw that look on another post in the cosmetics section, looked bad-ass.

I hate loud Harleys although for some reason straight pipes in a performance cars do not bother me. However, unless a Harley is going faster than the speed of sound other cars WILL be able to hear you coming better than with stocks since the sound will still travel ahead faster than the bike.

And yes I know this is an old thread

MY L99 SOUNDS NICE AND WILDLY CAMMED....GLAD I INSTALLED THE MTX 2X10s SUB KIT. YEAH..ITS OVERPRICED BUT DOES ADD THAT NEEDED LOW BASS...AND CAN OVERCOME THE EXHAUST. LEAVES A LOT OF ROOM LEFT IN THE TRUNK, AND IS WELL DESIGNED TO USE THE TRUNK AS A BACKWARDS FACING 'FOLDED HORN PORT' OR 'TRANSMISSION LINE' CABINET.
MY 99 Z-28 CONV. (LS1) WAS NOISIER INSIDE...BUT THAT WHAT RAGTOPS DO...EVEN WITH ITS DOUBLE INTERIOR/EXTERIOR LINER.
W.O.T. IS NICE WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN AND THE SUNROOF OPEN....IN TUNNELS!!

Is everyone talking about the ridiculously quiet L99 exhaust? I agree, there's nothing impressive about the stock L99 exhaust. Its extremely quiet.

I agree about the stock exhaust being too quiet which is why I had my Borla installed and it made a world of difference. Now it sounds as mean as it looks.

I like the stock L99 exhaust. Besides, I don't like to attract attention.

Yeah, and since I live in RI, and daily drive my car while most owners garage their cars for the winter, I'm a huge target.
