2SS/RS L99 exhaust note...pics and vid
What do you guys think of the exhaust note from the L99? I captured a short clip yesterday from a dealer training vehicle. Will the production LS3 (cam) sound any different....maybe better?
There's another thread with this car so I will try to post different pics. |

Nice - sounds pretty good for stock, and nice SS leather seat pics.
But I'm not a fan of those Exhaust tips. The stock exhaust tips on my GTO are much thicker walled and better looking. But I'll be putting a catback on my SS anyways, so I shouldn't really care. |

Actually I was somewhat disappointed with the exhaust sound in person. It sounded better on the video.

Um, sorry if this is kind of a dumb question, but... what is the actual difference between the L99 and LS3, besides hp?

L99 has AFM , Active Fuel Management
the whole cylinder deactivation to safe fuel under low load. According ot the reports the LS3 could have had it but the switchout of the cylinders is rough without the computer managing the trans and revs. |

i think it'll be a drivers' race. that 6L80 is no slushbox and it's geared differently, in the trans & rear, but the manual (with really good shifting) should be able to match it
the power difference is in the engine tuning, due to the AFM equipment, but with the rest of the driveline behind it, it'll hang with the manual just fine.
