But why would they? It wouldn't make sense financially, hence the reason I think the ZL1 won't get an update for 2013, regardless if the new GT500 beats it or not. And the GT is only marginally better in certain areas than a 3 year old SS. Still a driver's race on the road course and 1/4 mile.

Your looking at it all wrong. The camaro has only been out for three years like you said. It took Ford seven years to make the first performance upgrade to the standard GT Mustang and I bet the only reason they did was because of the Camaro. Competition is what drove Ford to make those changes ,and now it's forcing them to make more changes to your beloved GT500. So yes, competition is good for us.

And 3 years of lower sales.

I have a neighbor who bought a GT the year before they went to 5.0

It has the feel of GM having a plan and implementing it. Ford seems to be the nervous one. It's outsold the Camaro for ever and now they can't do it anymore.

The newness of the Camaro has undoubtedly an effect and so does the fact that there is no Firebird but Ford SEEMS to be the one panicing while GM just sticks to the plan.

And Mustang guy actually is the big winner.

I was going to put at the end of my post that it REALLY helped you mustang guys ,but I knew what that would start. Oh I guess I just did.

I'll do their comeback before they do. "Well if it wasn't for Ford bringing out the 2005 mustang, the camaro would have never happened."

And a TVS2300 is bigger than a TVS1900 blower. The one with the bigger displacement power added will win in the end.

With the TVS2300 on the 5.8 and the TVS1900 on the LSA both cars will come to the same displacement of 8.1 Liters....

Chevrolet ZL1 warranty 100000 miles
Corvette ZR-1 warranty 100000 miles
Dodge Challenger warranty 100000 miles
Ford GT500 warranty 60000 miles

Hmmm. I guess you can put in more horsepower in a vehicle if your warranty is almost half of the competitors. Way to show confidence in your products build quality. So turn the boost up and let the consumer deal with the problems.

They're both 5 years. How many people are going to be putting 20,000 miles a year on their ZL1? I'm guessing not many.

You're right, Ford can not reliably make 650 horsepower out of the 5.8 and they just hope that all the engines destroy themselves at 60001 miles...or 5 years and 1 day from the date of purchase.

Ford's engine can handle some intense boost the same cannot be said for the LSA, stuff the 5.4/5.8 can do will cause the LSA to break....

Like the 864 RWHP on a stock LS3 bottom end being discussed over on the forced induction part of Camaro 5? My goodness how much freakin HP are you willing to put on a stock bottom end?
