Don't expect huge gains or anything, but all that timing doesn't get pulled when running higher octane, and many drivers say the car performs better/smoother/etc.

Is it worth the extra price? That's up to you. OP, have you noticed a change in the car since switching back to regular?
This!

The V6 is "over-sparked" and relies on the knock sensors to bring the timing down to a proper level for the given octane in the tank...

The V-8 is a different story, that engine's compression and calibration requires.
The compression ratio of the V6 is higher than either of the V8s. It also doesn't have a low-octane table, instead the ECU advances timing until it detects knock then backs off a bit. Guys, please don't give guys advice about an engine you know nothing about.

I honestly know nothing about how our engine really works but I still have a piece of advise.

Use the highest octane, top tier gas you can find! For me that's Shell 93!

$4.09 for Premium here in Western PA. Be happy you can go down to 87 lol

As for different gas at different stations, I've found Sunoco to be junk gas. I usually lose 10% or more mpg by using their gas. My best luck is at BP.

Sorry. I was trying to support the post of the quoted author with source material

FWIW, I only use Shell V-Power 93 in my SS. For my CR-V and FJR, I run Shell regular. Here in Missouri, I can't find gas without 10% EtOH.

YMMV

No there not all the same I got wal mart cheap gas once never would I do it again buy from the stations from toptiergas.com or somethn like that. If gas is cheaper somewhere else there is a reason for it.

Reread my post. I mentioned the compression ratio of the V8 requiring premium. Being a non direct injection engine, at that compression level, it requires premium.

The sixer, yes has higher compression, but apples and oranges that is a direct injection engine. Designed to run high compression and use 87.
Yes, premium can eek out a bit more hp, if that is one's objective.

If economy on a DD sixer is the objective, which the OP's post seemed to be regarding fuel costs... I'll stick with the opinion of burning 87. I've got countless miles and cross country trips on cars/SUVs with LLT's running perfectly on 87. I didn't win any drag races on 87, but then again didn't get in any.

Just a matter of what someone's priority is - economy or max hp. 87 for one, 93 for the other. To each his own.

Another quick question, ever since i put the reg gas / switched from premium, it was not fully empty but now my car idles around 200 - 500 RMP, really really low, and i can feel the stick shaking sometimes when im at a light like its about to die or turn off.. Whats w that? It feels like when you are about to stall thats how it feels like, so i keep my foot on gas a little to raise it close to 1k rmp... is this a gas issue?

Could be. How many miles on your car? DI engines don't inject gas over the valves, so they may be dirty if you have a lot of miles. Next time you have it in for servicing ask them if it is time for the intake cleaning.

I'm guessing it could be bad gas.

look at it this way. say you fill up at 1/2 a tank. that's 9 gallons. most stations charge around a quarter more for the highest grade. that's a whopping $2.25. surely anybody who can afford to buy and insure a camaro can afford $2.25 per fill up, or a $5 if your running to empty.

is perfectly normal. the car is designed to idle at the lowest possible RPM, just saves a little gas. only time it should rev higher is when you first start it up and it needs to warm up.
