They said GM ordered a fix by putting some foam risers under the spoiler so they ordered a set and repainted it. So use that info to your advantage.
Vibrations causing paint to chip? Huh? If the car is sanded good and properly and cleaned it shouldn't chip or flake. All to often were repairing other body shops mistakes.

Nutro, Seeing that your getting it painted if they are refinishing your whole deck lid they should be blending your quarters as well for an exact match. Like you said the color may be hard to match when you factor in washing and the sun can lighten the color. Not so much on a new car but if its a hard paint match then maybe. I would want the quarters blended but they may not cover that in their warranty fix.

Well, the beginning of my saga is that Jerrys Chevy in Leesburg, Va. doesn't have body shop and will not even look at the car. On to try Winchester, Tysons, and Chantilly.

Well I got one quote for $720 to fix it all and put stripes back on. The dealer just called me and GM is only allowing $245 to fix it

$245??? At that price, even GM's losing money...!...Maybe try to convince them that if you let the 720 guy do it, you won't have to bring it back to them three times to get it right!...Never heard of any body or paint only costing 245!...hang in there...

Yeah I figured this would turn into a fiasco. Hell the new stripes are more than $245!

I think I am just going to take it to the dealership with a body shop that's 20 miles away on Monday morning and drop it off. If they want to lose that much money, they can eat it.

I would take to the dealer that has a body shop and get it done. Any outside body shop is gonna charge you more and if they accept the GM amount; you won't be happy with the results.

More factually, latent damages will continue to occur if it isn't repaired properly and in a timely fashion. Those out of sight, out of mind damages to the paint will contribute to further problems with rust and corrosion. Left unresolved the problem will grow like malignant cancer.

If the original poorly designed and factory installed spoiler washers are loose/warn under which dirt and debri reside the spoiler vibrates and
a scuffing action begins. This is the root cause for the wear areas to the painted surfaces. In all probability a leak into the trunk interior will eventually occur if the revised spoiler washer kit isn't installed during the process. Again ignored leaves the pathway open to repeated and newly developing damages. Its entirely beyond logic to simply choose to ignore a
well known and documented issue. Especially one with a easy enough fix.
Heck even the manufactor is agreeing the problem exists and is more than willing to resolve it. How often does this happen?

Do yourself a favor and go see a reputable dealer that has its own paint and body shop.

I took my 2010 Synergy Green Camaro into the dealership in regards to the spoiler scratching my trunk. Thank you for posting concerns about this problem, it saved my paint job- We caught it early. They are fixing it, adding spacers & a thin piece of foam so there isn't anymore contact. Everyone is covered since it's the dealers fault. My Chevy dealership said everyone needs to take their cars in for the repairs. I'm grateful for this group=>
