Yep, I just found it and posted in it. Sweet, I'm taking that info with me tomorrow afternoon back to that dealer.

mine has chips on the ends of the spolier where it connects to the trunk i dont think mine has washers on it at all cause it cracked the paint on the trunk. i was thinkin of askin the dealer to fix but i got a buddy to mix me the paint and i keep filling it with the touch up and then got some clear and let it all dry for a few days and sanded with 800 grit then 1000 and 1500 and buffed it out with some compound and looks good i would rather do that then have them paint it and have to restripe usally dont turn out so well when they do it.

when he goes to look at your trunk have your AR-15 laying in it so he sees it, then begin to pull it out and "polish" it infront of him while he decides its factory paint.
on serious note, that looks like stock paint. its the same |

I would touch it up, wet sand, and buff. Spoiler will probably cover most of that.
A repaint of SG will most likely not match, then you'll be in the hell of quibbling over mismatched paint. That's the original paint. No way was anyone able to match that SG shade that good and perfect metallic distribution. If they think they can paint it, ask how many times they have successfully matched SG. I'd bet it's zero. |

that was a big problem with the early cars. Mine had the trunk respray and thicker washers installed to keep it from happening again.

Not a trunk/spoiler issue but when I bought my brand new Ashen 2012 2SS/RS I noticed about a week later that the hood had scratches across it and one spot about the diameter of a soda can that was super shiny and had sanding swirls in it from a DA sander, looked as if they tried to fix something. Took it in and they said they would fix (re-paint) it. 2 days later I go to pick it up and there were sanding marks all over the hood with clear over it! I could see the scratches from 5 feet away really good. They then said that they would take care of it and it should be ready in a day or two. the next day I get a call saying it was done. when I got to the dealer they said it had to go back to paint because it still wasn't right. Went back the next day and it was done and looked good until I washed it a week and a half later. Now I can see a hazy illusion all over the hood. I figure they had wax on it and covered up the haze and washed off when I washed it. I think I'll just take it to another dealer to have them actually re-paint the whole thing factory.... So, taking it to the dealer to have them fix it might be more of a pain then just getting touch up paint and some nice rubber grommits and doing it yourself, plus its going to be under the spoiler. just my .02....

Its actually not just under the spoiler it comes out at least an 1/8 of an inch on the left and right ends, and more than an 1/8 of an inch below the right rear side of the spoiler. All primer gray.

Well then, by all means have them re-paint the whole trunk and do not accept it till its done correctly and to your standards. I don't think they need to know that you pulled off the spoiler to put on your stripes, they could always come back and say its your fault the trunk is scratched and they will not cover it. Good luck and I hope they fix it for you...

I don't see anything wrong here. The service manager said they'll make it right, but he want confirmation from his paint/bodyshop guy that the trunklid isn't the result of some crappy repair that the dealership or GM had nothing to do with. He has to protect his business as well, but he's being fair. This does not constitute a "run-in".
![]() Relax, take a deep breath, let the paint guy take a look at it. If they aren't willing to resolve it reasonably, then get ahold of Jeff Morris on here from Chevrolet Customer Support. But you do owe them the time they need to go through due-process. |

I had the same issue. The first year I had my car I noticed that there was paint missineg on the corners. I took it to the dealer and they repainted the entire deck. Almost another year later to the date, I noticed one of the corners had again flecked off. I took it back, the guy said they had issues with the spoilers vibrating too much and causing paint to chip. They said GM ordered a fix by putting some foam risers under the spoiler so they ordered a set and repainted it. So use that info to your advantage.

I had a dealer paint my GFX Synergy Green and it matches the car perfect. So it can be done.
