I've got some words about break-in on CTS-V LSA motors as I have owned 4 of them and built hundreds of them with 650+ hp. If you want to keep your factory motor for hundreds of thousands of miles then do exactly as the factory tells you to do. If you want to keep your motor reliable to at least 100k miles and want the most power out of the stock bottom end then beat the piss out of it from day one. This will break in the tolerances to be a bit "looser" which will net in a few more ponies. Maybe 10-15 at the most. This is just my opinion and what I have seen that works very well for the LS3 and LSA.

FYI, my CTS-V wagon has 29k miles on it, it is my daily driver and it makes 642 rwhp thru the factory auto and runs 10.9's on drag radials. I have been running it hard from day one and it does not burn a drop of oil and runs perfectly. Take it for what it is worth.

567 rwhp isn't even 3% drive train loss. THAT would be astounding. Specially from an auto.

I ran a 12.6 stock in my 2011 GT500. The ZL1 has to do better on the stock tires. Hell you even got launch control.

Not trolling, just expecting faster in stock trim. Hopefully as people get more time with the car the times will get better.

I would expect more like 585 rwhp from a stock ZL1 automatic car.
you are missing something...

Stock flywheel HP is 580. 585RWHP should not be expected.

I don't see how so many think this is going to be an 11 sec car bone stock. Check the weight. That will take more boost and traction.

Stick times with a mediocre driver will really get ugly on stock tires.
With the HP numbers, it should run better from what the more heavy Challengers are running with 100 hp and near 100 tq less. Just sayin. I just ran a 12.5 @ 112 in near 90 degree heat and 60% humidity still bone stock on stock tires.....................The ZL1 should run better than those times period. Who knows what was wrong.

Sorry guys, that was a typo. 485 rwhp from a stock ZL1 auto would be what I would expect to see once the motor is broken in.

So 467rwhp was the original auto baseline then?

Adds up perfectly now.

So it made 467 rwhp then?

Ya, that seems a bit low.

Correct, the stock baseline was 467 rwhp. Torque was a bit higher.

Not really for a fresh automatic car...sounds about right. Maybe a tad low. 485 should be about spot on once broke in for the auto considering the manual is around 515.

That would be a 20% drive train loss. Seems a bit high for what the ZL1 is supposed to be, even for an auto.

Right. Not far off at all. It would make sense though since the car in not broke in. Not much low but like the OP said, expected a tad higher.
