Considering they built up BB as THE main Transformer in the first one I would be extremly surprised if he wasn't back. Plus Bay has gone on record saying he loves the new Camaro.

I thought the Camaro was going to be built on the Holden platform? No? Still, even if it's built on a new platform, it's still out a full year after the Challenger and is two years or so away for being in dealerships. That is a long time, especially in car years. Hell Mustang will be completely re-done by that time (likely).
Someone else said that the Challenger wasn't competition to the Camaro. How's that? I think they are direct competitors with Mustang being the odd man out. This muscle car war will get interesting for sure...in 2 years.

Holden is a GM brand, not a platform. They are doing the engineering on the Zeta platform, which is being shared with the Vauxhall VXR8 in Europe, the Holden Commodore in Australia, and the Pontiac G8 North America. The zeta chassis will be shortened a bit and the wheel base adjusted for the Camaro.
As far as the challenger, its not considered by some to be competion because it will weigh 4000-4200 lbs. The camaro is estimated to be 10% less than that. Thats the main reason at least Oh and welcome to the site

As I understood it, production would start in the 4th qtr of 2008 to get the assembly line up and running and iron out any wrinkles. The cars would then start arriving in dealerships in early 2009.

There has been some speculation that these 30 or so Camaros to be produced in October of 2008 may find there way into Dealer Showrooms sometime in late '08, but would be solely for the use of showing off the car to the general public, and would not be for sale.
Whether or not this is true (it's quite unlikely), there will be no Camaro in your driveway until 1st quarter of '09 at the earliest. |

Earliest and the latest, right? We hope.
I don't see why they shouldn't have demo's at dealers since this will be such a hot car (perhaps also a reason not to have demo's). Anyway, I'm most concerned when we will see official pics of the production car, any guesses???

I know the official line is the 30 or so cars in OCT and then full production in january. but come on guys the only hard thing for them really right now is the tooling and assymboly line. but with the release of these spy photos the last few days and the more then inevitable official release of the production version next month at detroit why don't you all think gm can't get them out sooner. on top of the fact the first year of challangers is going to be for the people that can afford the SRT8 along with the mark up. which is going to be well north of 40k. challenger is just that a challenger. it's not going to ammount to as much competition like some people believe.

The plant just became availible within the last month or so, the Grand Prix is now done production. The plant is probably being gutted right now. They are not simply re-tooling it either. They are installing a new 'flex line' that can acomidate a wider range of cars than current production lines can handle. So lets say it takes them 4 more months to get the stuff out. then 6 more to install everything. That puts it at . . . mid October. You could probably give GM 2 million dollars and they might custom build a replica of one of the concept cars, I think thats how much they cost. But for large scale production? need to wait for 11 more months (I don't count 30 cars as large scale production). But hey, things are being measured in months now and not years

I know what the 30 cars are for. my dad got a saturn sky and I remember everything that went on for that thing. there were about 30 of them running around about 2-3 months before they actually began production of them. and after they began full production it took about 2 weeks before they started delievering them. so even if they started full production on them first week of january I wouldn't expect to see many until late feb early march. as they trickle out to the dealers. it's just if GM wanted it bad enough they could push the contractors to rip that crap out of there quicker and install it quicker. we all know that given the right motivation (money in this situation) people would be willing to work a lot harder. but I will def look to you DGthe3 since you are in oshawa for any signs of production.
