I talked to the local chevy dealership today. I was looking a good used 2010, and got to talking ZL1. He said he has no more, but are only taking orders for the 2013. they are expecting 12 ZL1s with the same engine power

Whoever did this was pretty stupid, and would have gotten caught even if he hadn't wrecked it. Take a close look at that left rear tire. Apparently, he was doing a lot of burnouts.

It must happen pretty often. My school's auto tech garage was full of donated cars and engines. We had a 350 V8 from an old Suburban that only had 75 miles on it. Several 5.3L Vortecs. A 3.4 DOHC (being used for teaching purposes in a high school was probably the best place for that one). They also had several complete cars...a fairly new Chevy S10, and a 7 year old Lincoln Mark VIII, with about 25K miles or so on it.

The year I was there, they got a new 2003 Chevy Malibu. It was a complete car, except the wheels/tires were replaced with donut spares. It had something like 7 or 8 miles on the odometer. Someone dropped something on the roof, and it had an 8 inch dent in it. Otherwise, nothing wrong with it. The same year, they also had a complete new Honda Pilot donated. I don't know what was wrong with that one. Too bad. Even those seemed like a waste.

Myself and others along with the employee that told me this offered to buy the car or parts off but they couldn't do it !
This happened on Friday and the dealership picked it up over the weekend. I didn't believe it either, but others said the same.. also the Guy that order it also had after market exhaust at the dealership ready to be installed.
I'll check to see if it is still there in the morning.
(The car was shipped by rail to the port of Baton Rouge)

Does it always have to be a GM conspiracy with you...

Wonder what number it was?

What will probrably happen is the car will be totaled and sent to salvage. I have seen cars here at dealers that were still new wrecked on delivery to the dealer and totaled because of the loss in value they suffer from the collision damage. After you look at the salvage value vs. the cost of repair and still selling the car for 1/2 price they save money. I'm still a little suprised because that damage isn't horrible, but after the cluster the other dealer created by repairing that other ZL1 and getting caught made GM extra sensetive to this one being damaged.

It is also possible that since the car has not been titled yet that it might really get destroyed or at least stripped for parts. Normaly that car would be rebuilt with a salvage title and be back on the road in a couple of weeks at the most.

GM would have to buy it back from the purchasing dealer. GM won't buy back vehicles, at least not anymore. The fact that it is a zl1 might cause something special, but doubt it.

The damage on this car, does not look as bad as the car, that was on the main page, and the dealer wanted to get over MSRP for.

I think they're BSing about GM not letting them and all of that, they would do the same for the other car.

Is this a case of the dealer had not taken possession yet? If the vehicle made it to the dealership and it was damaged there, its on the dealer. But until it is delivered, it belongs to GM. GM cannot sell a repaired vehicle to the dealership. A dealer can sell whatever he wants. Much like a mail order purchase for you. Break it at home and your on your own, but if it arrives broken, its the vendors problem.

The body shop says it can be repaired, but GM won't let them.

I don't know about that.

I have a Vin # off of a RJT Camaro that I bought my trunklid from a salvage yard. It was listed as junk in GM's system.

They will probably do something like this with that ZL1.

Found the last entry in the vin lookup of this Camaro 2G1FC1EV7A9164051

Damn there's gotta be something in the cool-aid here lately. ZL1's already dropping like flies, dude owned a new 5.Slow for 8hrs then proceeds to wraps it around a tree, kid (in the Vette) at C&C Dallas goes off roading. Way too many idiots behind the wheel of a vehicle that's too powerful for them.
