If you google the part numbers the plate comes up. I got mine off eBay.

I need to buy the coolant plug, the bolts for the block-off plate, and the upper radiator hose. I just have the block-off.

What part numbers? I have the part numbers for the block coolant plug and the radiator hose, but never saw one for the block-off plate.

Edit....Nevermind....I just went to Ebay and typed in "LS Oil Cooler Plate" and several of them came up. Thanks!!!

Is all you need is the new hose and the block plate?

I'm wondering what are ideal oil temps for us... That would spur me to buy a cooler setup.

Block it off if needed. Base vettes don't have oil coolers. A lot of z06 and other people block it off just to get oil temps up quicker. Cold oil sucks for lubrication. As long as you aren't road racing it I wouldn't' worry.

It must be above 200 to burn off moisture and crud, anything about 215 is excess heat really.

It works great although I wouldn't recommend the factory cooler delete for daily drivers in very cold climates. Oil takes longer to get up to operating temp even with the thermostat but not terribly long. I'm waiting until my next oil change to get an external oil temp gauge installed that I expect to be more accurate.

I also need a trans thermostat installed to reduce warmup time with my giant cooler but I've gone a bit more extreme than most with cooler sizes because of track use. The factory warmup feature was removed when i did my flexalite radiator.

Gets down to zero here once in a while, but my first cooler left me stranded and I racked a big tow bill. If you look at the design it will make you nervous.

Mine will be gone.

Okay, so I ordered/bought this Block Coolant Plug (GM P/N 12561663) from my local dealership.....

1.) Does anyone know....is there supposed to be any kind of Seal, Gasket, or O-Ring under this thing when it is installed??? Just want to make sure I have everything on-hand before I start tearing stuff apart!!!

2.) What the heck do you use to tighten this thing down....that would be a HUGE Allen Wrench!!! What about the torque???

3.) Just FYI....I bought the oil cooler block-off plate pictured below off of eBay.

4.) Just FYI....The one piece upper radiator hose, GM P/N 19259243 has been superseded (replaced by) GM P/N 22962571.

You definitely need thread seal in there or the plug will leak. I used white plumbing thread seal tape.

You need a monster Allen key wrench. I borrowed one from the friendly GM mechanic who does all the stuff on my car that requires a hoist and actual mechanic skills.

Okay, thanks, I can see there is some kind of white sealant "gunk" on the threads already, but I will go over it with the white teflon tape you're talking about. I was just thinking that maybe an O-Ring would fit really nice right at the base of the threads????

And as far as tightening it down.....maybe I could actually use the head of a bolt and tighten two opposing nuts on the threads and use that?!?!?!? Just trying to be creative!!! And did you "torque" it to any specific value.....or just "good-n-tight"!?!?!?
