I had 0 issues with my 2010 and have had none with my 2012, unless you want to count a errant piece of weatherstrip that just needed to be lubricated with silicone lubricant.

and if I'm not mistaken it's a design flaw in the engine, not even a matter of a bad chain. I want to say some people here have had several chains stretch.

but it sounds like this is more of an initial quality survey than a long term reliability one. after all, it's only been out 3 yrs now. anyhow, this is why the domestics continue to lag their foreign competition. I've owned many Japanese cars and have never had a major engine problem. the closest I've ever come is a '90 sentra I had long ago with 212k miles on it and the timing chain guides started to go.

anyway, love my camaro, but after finding out about this I will definitely be the last domestic car I ever buy. how in the hell is it, in this day and age, a major automobile manufacturer cant design a proper engine so now I get to continue driving my car wondering if I'm going to be looking at a $2500 chain replacement down the road. Christ, that kind of crap is the whole reason I stopped buying domestic in the first place.

sorry to vent, just frustrating knowing about this potential issue

It's still a relatively rare occurance. To stress out over POTENTIAL problems isn't good. Otherwise, I'd be a mess, hiding in my root cellar, worrying about the possibility of a meteor exploding nearby. That is, after all, a potential problem. Not trying to bust your balls... just saying, if you worry about POTENTIAL problems, then you'll have too much to stress over. Remember... the vast majority of Camaros do NOT have this problem... yours, most likely, will not, either.

Initial quality is just that, when you get your new car what problems occured in the first 90 days. There are several I have read about on here that have near 100,000 miles on their 2010, if you recall they started selling 2010s in early 2009 so many are approaching 4 years on the road. I don't know how you can call that "Initial Quality".
Anyhow you won't be paying for repairs until after the 5 year 100,000 mile warranty is up. So you can stop being paranoid and enjoy your car.

http://autos.jdpower.com/ratings/dep...release.htmThe rankings on dependability for this same study found Chevrolet (not necessarily Camaro, as I was unable to find the breakdown to that level) products as having fewer problems per vehicle (or, per hundred vehicles, however you want to slice it) than: Ford, Cadillac, Subaru, BMW, GMC, Scion, Nissan, Infiniti, Kia, Hyundai, Audi, Volvo, MINI, Chrysler, Jaguar, Volkswagon, Jeep, Mitsubishi, Dodge, and Land Rover. ................................................. And that's a lot of Japanese, German, Korean, Swedish, English (and American) heritage to beat.

it's not paranoia, there is in fact a flaw in the design of the motor. it's just a crap shoot as to weather or not it bites you in the ass. anyhow, I won't enjoy my car any less. since it's just an extra car to have fun with I'm still gald I bought it, and probably buy it again. If I were paranoid about it I'd sell the thing. It's more a matter of I finally gave a domestic car a chance figuring they had finally got their shit together only to find out they really haven't.

don't know what your using, but this one tells a much different story
http://autos.jdpower.com/ratings/dependability.htm

and if you click on the link for the full report http://autos.jdpower.com/ratings/dep...ss-release.htm you find toyota/lexus still dominate

"Lexus ranks highest in vehicle dependability among all nameplates for a second consecutive year." and " Rounding out the five highest-ranked nameplates are .Porsche, Lincoln, Toyota and Mercedes-Benz." and..........

"Toyota Motor Corporation continues to perform well in long-term dependability and earns seven segment awards--more than any other automaker in"

and for the record, I've never owned a Toyota, and never will. I think they're the most boring cars on earth. I'm not shilling for something in the driveway.

I'm pretty sure they fixed it with the LFX, and you have the LFX, so why do you care? If they didn't fix it with the LFX, then feel free to correct me.

He was correct all the manufacturers he listed are listed below Chevrolet in the survey. You need to look at the bargraph again.

Actually when you said this, "so now I get to continue driving my car wondering if I'm going to be looking at a $2500 chain replacement down the road." It sounds like you are paranoid about it.

And what does the fact that Toyota is the most recalled car for the last few years say about their quality? http://m.nbcnews.com/business/toyota...ears-1C6374378

I think I also read that Honda was the second most "recalled" vehicle, just shy of the Toyota you quoted . I haven't heard a single report of a Camaro killing someone because the gas pedal won't release.

I didn't find a bar graph that you mentioned in a previous post...where is it?
