I just want the interior to be more scratch proof. That doesn't need to cost 5-7

You can EASILY honor the Camaro and still offer a higher quality interior.

The Corvette was everything you describe above in the 60's. And look at its interior now. It's entered the realm of world-class IMO.

The Camaro team would't have made the numerous improvements they've already made to the interior if they felt it wasn't important. It's light years nicer than Gen 4 and the 2012 is a signficant improvment over what I have in the 2011.

I'm just saying there are people like me who would pay for more (This poll seems to reflect that) and offering it isn't going to somehow dishonor the Camaro heritage.

I have no problem with purists who want the basics in the interior. Nor should the purist have any problem with what people like me would love to see in the Camaro. Yeah - I could buy a different car to get the interior - but then I don't have the exterior I want.
The optional a/c and lack of speakers and sound proofing doesn't exactly make the Z/28 a stripper. And with its price point approaching corvette territory no thanks. Ford sold tons of Fox bodies because the were fast and cheap. if you want leather door panels, heated steering wheels and what not that's fine, but I think if the Camaro starts to morph into something it was not meant to be, the brand will suffer imho. It happened to the RX7 and the toyota supra and to a certain degree the early 280zx. All three of which became fat and bloated and more concerned with gizmos than performance and value.

The camaro has always been the 'blue collar' sport/muscle car! It was made to be simple and powerful! A weekend warrior at the track! The true old school camaro enthusiasts and speed enthusiasts of today want the feeling the guys in the late 60's and 70 had! Affordable power, ability to customize and personalize, pride in being able to work on it without a degree in rocket science, to climb behind the wheel after a long week and for that moment feel like a rockstar! The camaro was made to be DRIVEN, pushed hard and fast! You can't honor the comaro loading it down and making it overwhelmingly over weight and complex just to mope around town and entertain yourself with fancy interior gadgetry! Just my 0.02 cents! Peace love and happy motoring!
I agree 100%. If I had an extra $7000 it for sure would not be spent on a fancy interior. It would go for an SLP supercharger. You can sit in fancy seats as you look at my tail lights.

How about you?

I didn't see an option for HELL NO! so I picked: Extra Interior luxury is not important to me.

The dodge challenger has a nicer interior most would agree! The dodge challenger is also more expensive, heavier, slower, and doesn't sell as many units as the camaro! Interior focus sure paid off well for dodge huh?

Things like adaptive cruise control and parking assist, and massage seats and real wood grain in the doors are best left to Caddies. I'm pretty happy with the quality of the current car. I would say if the plastics of certain parts like the tranny tunnel were upgraded a slight bit then it would be perfect. It could always be better but I'd rather spend that money under the hood.
I didn't think about this. GM obviously doesn't want to compete against themselves so they do have different markets for different tastes. Just like a Camaro will never perform like a Corvette, the Camaro will never look like a Cadillac.
I don't care much about the looks, but as a soon to be engineer I love anything to do with gadgets on a car. Except hill assist.

They sell well believe it or not. SRT8 392 is a very well built vehicle.

Even though in a good year it would be easily affordable for me to choose something along the lines that you propose, I would never opt for it.

On the other hand, springing for the 1LE package on top of an SS would be done without hesitation. Total no-brainer.

I guess the blue collar roots run too deep, and even at age 65 the need for 'fun to drive' to overshadow features and qualities such as appearance and projected image is still plenty strong.

At one time I would have never paid for all the extras, but now that I am almost over the hill you start to appreciate the added options you can get on a vehicle. I added a lot of options to my F250 when I ordered it. When its -35 Celsius (Canada) in January at 5 am when I am headed to work, having a remote start and heated seats is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
