Yes, that is certainly part of it. I don't know that you could consider the pre-crash high water mark of sales (where people bought new cars just because their home equity increased $20k a year, and they could easily refinance and spend the cash) as normal. Though for sure, after the crash, car sales over corrected to the downside for a time.

I still think current high prices have a lot to do with the old bubbles from 5 years ago being (at least partially) blown up again. The uptick in sales and per unit price of the last year or two has been associated with a simultaneous resurgence in sub-prime financing, and that is surely not a coincidence. So, if you are looking for a deal on a car, wait a couple years if you can, because when history repeats itself, the end will be the same just as surely as the beginning and middle are the same.

Ya think?
It has certainly had an affect on used truck prices.

I take it yours is the 4.3 then. I have been diving this one all day around here and the gauge has barely moved. I think this truck will get great mileage.

Mine is the 4.3 with automatic and 345 gears. It averages about 17 mpg.

I just filled up and checked my mileage and it was 22 in all city driving.
My last 4.3 in a blazer the best it would get was 21 on the highway

My Sonoma will do 20 MPG all day on the highway.

Start driving her in the city and you can watch the needle moving. Worst tank: 9.9 MPG, best tank: 12.1 MPG.

My 01 Ranger with the 3.slow V6 averages around 17.5. Geez why did Ford ever put the 3.0 in the Ranger when the 4.0 had much more power at basically the same MPGs.

I'm excited to see what the new Colorado/Canyons offer, but in reality I think people that want these trucks really just want small Ranger size trucks with beds and great MPGs. We don't want to pull a damn boat, we just need the convenience of the bed is all. If the smaller trucks don't get a sizable amount of MPGs over their big brothers....its a fail.

The new GM truck approach will be two-pronged. Full sizes focus on maximizing performance out of their engines, midsizes focus on excellent fuel economy.

I found out these are Eagle Alloys and I went on EBay and found two matching caps for $20. Not a bad deal since I found you can still buy new centers from Summit Racing for $40 each.

eBay is great for finding hard to get items, especially for vehicles that the dealer doesn't even stock parts for any more.
I got a new washer bottle, a set of horns, a vacuum accumulator, and a set of vent shades.
It looked like the washer bottle had just had water in it and it froze and busted, for some reason the horns were missing, the vacuum accumulator wasn't reinstalled with the new hood. I have gotten all of those and the two center Caps and have spent less than $100.

centerline brand of wheels. most of the center caps interchange with various model of wheel. i had centerline scorpion wheels and the center cap interchanged with the saber and wildcat? model. but most of thecenterline wheels use the same center cap
