I see the back bench has a 4 child hook pins I'm just wandering is anyone has seen a middle seat buckle that has two clip on hooks at two ends and a buckle in the middle to temporally hook up to the two middle child pins witch are already there and should be set to specs, if not the wouldn't be marked for child seat hooks and was not intending to bolt a totally new belt just link two child pin hooks. It's better than not wearing a belt at all, its not permanent I know the kids will soon not fit and the idea is to be unclipped when not in use and store in the trunk.
some times this forum is full of smart mouths, I just wanted a locating item question not smart ass remarks. If you don't know don't suggest.Keep it to your self.

This is a classic case of ask a stupid question get a stupid answer. You don't like it, don't ask something that will put your kids at SERIOUS risk. I don't care if its for 1 block, 10 feet, nothing.

If you want a more serious answer, those hooks are not meant for the force of a lap belt. Child seats are smaller, meant for smaller children, distribute the force differently, and in some cases are augmented by the seatbelt attachment. Drilling your own holes will not be reinforced or tied into the frame the way stock bolts are. Clipping something inline with the factory left and right belts to allow two belts not only doesn't exist but if it did it would be unsafe too as they are not designed for multi directional forces at the same time like that. In short unless you want your kid to have a spinal injury or end up in the front seat or worse, through the windsheild, I suggest you have one person stay home.

If it's illegal to have 3 people in the back seat when it's only designed for two, then I hope this law starts getting enforced more often around where I live. I lost count of the number of times I've seen more then 5 people riding in an extended cab truck...

I can't believe that no one has given the obvious alternative. Buy a Dodge Challenger. The only "pony car" that comes with a full sized 3-person sedan back seat. Obviously it has the sedan back seat because it is built on full sized 4-dr. frame and handles like one. But if you want a sporty looking car that can safely carry 3 kids in the back, this is it.

TanaBarley,
Just wanted to say that I owned a Matador Red 68 Camaro when I was 17-20 years old and loved your pic.
Now the nose stripe was a SS350 in 67. Did that carry over in 68? And sorta keeping this on track with the thread, mine had the rare bench seat bottom in the front. Yup, a Camaro with a bench seat! It had the bucket backs and a fold down arm rest that covered most of the bench that made it look like it was two buckets. Not bragging, but I did have two girls with me in the front sometimes, you know, in a emergency
Never could get two in the back though
Oh yeah, it was called a stratoback seat or something like that.

Putting more people in the back then the vehicle was designed for isn't illegal, it's stupid but not illegal. The only thing the driver will get in trouble for in this case is those extra people not wearing a seat belt.

Modifying the factory safety equipment is what is illegal.

Actually, pretty sure it is illegal to have more passengers than you have seat belts...

Why even "chance" causing injury to a child? The Camaro was not set up for 3 people in the back, no matter what their size is. If you want to take them for a ride, you are just going to have to do it at seperate times. You can pull out of your driveway and get hit. It doesn't matter how short the distance is, accidents DO happen. Rigging the backseat to accomodate that 3rd child is only asking for disaster. My childs safety is of the utmost importance. I wouldn't do anything to put them at risk. If a company is able to incorporate a way for a 3rd seatbelt or seat that meets all safety requirements, then by all means, go for it. Until then, let them take turns.
