So it all depends on how much of the exhaust you replace. But just replacing the mufflers (axle back) doesn't do much. Its mostly for looks and sound.

I agree with SGOS. If you're looking for big HP gain you need to do something from the motor back. I put them on more for sound and looks (4.5" tips). The stock muffler exhaust note was a bit disappointing... to say the least.

Thanks. Yes, I kept my exhaust but that's up to you. I think my total was around $825 installed. And that included an overnight shipping charge from the manufacture (wasn't in the distribution channel yet) becuase I am sooooo darn patient.

If you've seen the GMPP axle back it has real nice looking 4.5 inch thick walled tips. It looks really good compared to the ugly stock exhaust. Its also much lighter. So you get a much better looking, lighter, and better sounding exhaust than stock.

I paid $661.00 for my GMPP offroad version axle back (its on order) from gmpartsdirect.com. But I've noticed as of this morning the price has gone up to $724.36?

It looks similar to the regular version, but it has a smaller and round shaped muffler.

Are you cutting off the origninal muffler and replacing it with these. I see some of the systems don't even replace the muffler at all and have a straight pipe to the tips. If so, that would be obnoxiously loud, wouldn't it?

I'm still waiting on mine. I'm not sure if they're backordered or they just take a long time. Because my order status has been "on order" for about a week.
To install the axle back, you have to cut the stock exhaust pipe just upstream from the mufflers. Then it gives you clamps that go over each section of pipe that connects the stock exhaust to the axle back. I've read if you install it right you have a couple of inches to play with (adjusting how far you want the tips to stick out).

The muffler delete setups don't sound bad (they're not that loud) because of all the cats and resonators upstream on the stock exhaust. But if you later decide to add long tube headers and high flow cats (+40hp), the muffler delete setup will get very loud (probably too loud for most of us).

That's why I went with the "off road" version of the GMPP axle back. It not as loud as a muffler delete, but its louder than the regular version of the GMPP axle back.

I'm assuming the price you are referring to did not include the exorbitant shipping and handling prices from gmpartsdirect??? They're nothing more than a Chevrolet (GM) dealership hooking people with a good parts price and making it up on a "handling" charge. They also mislead people into thinking they have parts "in-stock" when they suffer the same part constraint that every dealer in the country is having. Guess you can't tell I think they are conniving.

so does the off road gmpp exhaust fit on the camaro if it has the ground effects? i know you have to order a certain gmpp exhaust to fit the camaro if it has ground effects but i just dont know about the off road version

I like the sound and also the look of the tips... I know GMPP uses T-304 S/S for their exhaust but are the tips polished stainless steel or are they chrome plated tips ?
