I remember putting a set of mid-length headers on my LT1 and hoping to get 15hp at the crank...

Nice to see where technology has taken us in only 15 years(1994-2009)!

The only thing I would like to see is a stainless version so that you can put them on and NEVER worry about them again!

PS - Finally some headers that give respectable gain and are legal to put on cars in our nanny-state of Kalifornia!

Especially the "nanny-state..." comment, lol!

Those that have experience with DT products and services, could you share for those of us that have never heard of them? Are they big on the racing circuits or something? From the dyno numbers I see so far, I am very impressed. They are posting strong numbers compared to many of their big name competitors like Borla, Corsa, Flowmaster, SLP, etc.

We Californians are in an awkward spot. If we want to stay legal, we basically have to either stick with light mods (intake, catback exhaust) or go nuts with a supercharger/turbocharger. If I lived in Texas, I'd be perfectly happy with medium mods, like longtube headers and full exhaust, maybe a bigger cam. That would give you well over 500 HP which is good enough for me. But nooooo...

Thanks for the link. I've been leaning towards a catback exhaust, shorty headers (now) and air intake.

Match that with a high stall torque converter, tune and drag radials and you'll be strong.

Who would you suggest as a supplier for the high stall torque converter? I've never had drag radials. Who makes good ones? This will be my first time doing after market mods but with this car it will be worth it.

Yank and Vigilante.

I dunno if anyone's put a converter on the new Camaro's yet, I'd wait a bit. A higher stall converter combined with drag radials should be worth around half a second alone at the drag strip. This is an advantage autos have over sticks. I think only Nitto makes 20" drag radials but the guy running 11's with nitrous said he managed to fit 18" corvette wheels in the rear of the new Camaro. Then there should more options like Mickey Thompson, etc at that size.

I'm also waiting on more results to see which intakes provide the best gains. Note that the intake should have a CARB sticker too, although it's easier to change back to the stock intake every couple years when you smog it. Much harder to keep changing longtube headers back to stock every time you need to do a smog test.

Yeah there is someone, can remember who, has a Yank 3200 I think. Has had nothing but praise about his converter choice.

Um guys...don't mean to be rude or anything but what does all the converter talk have to do with Doug Thorley Headers?

i have a yank SS3200 for 5 weeks now, geat converter, major tuning to get the tcc and tm to work for the converter,, here is a post of mine from hp tuners:

seems lots of people are having issues with aftermarket converters and tcc functions with the 6l80e, the 6l80e is new to me and im trying to get a handle on tuning mine also. so far i have left the WOT tcc turned off and only have the tcc commanded on in 5th and 6th at hwy speeds

along with a large trans cooler this seems to be working fine so far.

from what i have read and seen in several 6l80e files is that the gm factory program wants the tcc locked at WOT in 2nd-3rd gear and up, but the aftermarket converters tcc clutch is a different set up than what the factory converter comes with and cant hold the WOT power when locked and eventually will fail,

i have seen several requests from people to hpt to add a tcc pressure table but nothing has come of that, does anyone know for sure if that will fix the issue? and if so why no tcc table?

stock converter is pwm tcc and the aftermarket are not made for pwm,, and cannot hold wot engagement like the factory converters

I think Precision Industries amkes a Vigilante coverter with multple disks that works in the 4L60e. I don't know of any Camaro installations or wha is required with tuning at WOT settings.
