Rotofab is an awesome mod, I would recommend it to anyone. I have never had a car in which an intake swap made such a HUGE powe difference. Two thumbs up.

I am not so sure I would buy mine again. Got the carbon fiber look, so I paid a little extra. The install was easy and I'm not mechanical by any means. The sound improvement is awesome and it looks a hell of a lot better than stock. My only complaint is possibly some loss at low end, which I can't tell because I installed the intake at 1500 miles and never really got on in much before. I wish I would have driven it hard as hell before and after to better compare.
And lastly, if it is faster, I noticed I am so paranoid of cops I can't have as much fun as I hoped on public roads and I don't track my car (not even sure where the closest one is). And lastly, Michigan roads suck so hard (ironic that the Motor City has crap roads IMO).
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I like the product, but personally I'm not getting my money worth out of it. But the car I absolutely love!!!! Some days just looking at it in the garage is enough!

So... anyone..... difference?
While we have not had a chance to test the CAI system yet, I do believe that the Roto-Fab has slightly better gains. But 1-3 hp is not something you can feel when you have 500 more pony's at the tire. But then again, it is a #'s game..

Both systems provide solid gains without a tune, so to me, it would come down to what ever one you think looks the best.

Feel free to call, PM or email me with questions.

As far as looks, I really like the Roto Fab, although I need a new filter. The ww reservoir kind of screwed with it before I relocated it.

My experience with the Roto-Fab intake has been a mixed bag. I wrestled long and hard about even modding my car save for a catch can. The ZL1 already has more power than I will ever use plus I wanted to keep the factory warranty for at least a few years. But after reading all the glowing reviews on this forum and seeing those posted dyno numbers showing good power gains with the stock tune and no CELs, I finally succumbed to temptation and ordered one.

I had it installed for about two weeks before removing it over concerns it was making my car run richer than normal and producing a loud backfire going from 1st to 2nd gear when the engine was cold.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=304818

(I later discovered the factory intake will produce a similar backfire. Actually I think it's just a very loud decel pop from the PCM being in open loop mode at cold startup.)

At the time I thought the best thing to do was to go back to the stock intake (like I said in the beginning, I was really on the fence about modding my car). I put the intake, along with a big gulp and a ww reservoir relocation kit both of which were never installed up for sale. I sold the big gulp and thought I had a possible buyer for the intake but the sale never materialized.

This past Sunday while in one of those "can't leave well enough alone" moments, I decided to give the Roto-Fab a second try since I still had it around. Just to add to the mix was the addition of a Vmax ported LSA TB in between the first and this second install (so much for being on the fence about modding my car ).

So here's my assessment of the intake after all this:

1. Performance wise I can't really tell much difference between it and the factory intake -- even with the addition of the ported TB. Much of this may be attributed to my driving habits. On the stock tune, the Roto-Fab appears to show its biggest gains from 3000 rpm on up and I rarely have the opportunity to get my engine rpms that high.
2. Fit and finish are beyond excellent. The intake quality is top notch and it just plain looks sexy in my engine bay.
3. As a cold air intake, It does a pretty good job of keeping temps lower at the filter than the stock air box. Put your hand inside the air box immediately after driving and you'll notice the filter and inside of wall of the box are barely warm to the touch. It also seems to cool the intake air quicker after the car starts moving. How much of this translates into more power I can't say.

Do I plan to keep it -- the answer is yes now that I know it's not the cause of the backfire. I've always liked the way it looks in my engine bay and the added SC whine is rather addicting. Would I buy it again -- that's a tough question to answer. It is a lot of money for what has turned out to be a marginal gain at best for my car.

Love mine to! I couldn't stop myself from spending the extra dough and getting the carbon fiber version. I can hear my Roto-Fab working hard through the early gears, it's a great product.

Since some of you are posting pics...

Hawk02 said my thoughts better than I did. Also, my car does the same pop on 1-2 shift when cold. Once I'm out of my subdivision it's gone.

...I have the ZL1 dual check valve CAI, there is no lid to seal it against the hood. The 3 sided box that surrounds the air intake has a rubber seal on top of the flat sides that in theory seals itself to the hood. I never did a seal check on it personally.
