Unbelievable, I will never ask a question of this group again. I thank all those that did have an answer to my question. I rarely go without a seat blet, I just hate the noise just to back out of the garage. And don't ever preach to me about safety. I am a nurse that works at a Level 2 Trauma Center, I know exactly what comes through our doors every night. We don't call 'em "donor cycles" for nothing. It is my choice, not yours! My Chrysler owners manual had a full explaination on how to turn it off, that doesn't mean I'm not going to use it. BTW: I have so much insurance I have a letter from State Farm that says I can never be canceled. What a waste of time! I've got a football team to manage and I'm returning there immediately.

I worked the other end of the accidents...I got to be the guy to bring the bodies over to the morgue...what I saw convinced me to wear my belt...that and the stories of my highway patrol friends. Have you seen a decapitation due to airbag deployment on someone without a seatbelt on? It's pretty gruesome.
Sorry you didn't like the comments...its like this on nearly every forum...in fact this one is pretty easy on questions like this. Ask this question on some of the Corvette forums and the mods would have to shut it down immediately due to the flaming. In the future I'd suggest clearly explaining why you want to defeat a manufacturer safety feature and maybe that will lessen the comments and make someone more willing to provide an answer. Enjoy the Camaro! |

Another thing to consider:
About a year and a half ago, some 18 year old with daddy's M5 posted on an M5 forum about a problem he was having with gear changes at 140 mph. The forum members questioned the wisdom behind a child with no driving experience having control of an extremely high performance sedan, but they didn't protest enough apparently. The very next night the kid flew the car (no joke, the car literally became airborne) right into a tree and killed himself and four friends. Full story here If you're asking how to do something that is pretty much guaranteed to get you killed eventually, do you really expect people not to express concerns? Would it really make you feel better about humanity if we ignored apparently suicidal tendencies and just answered questions like heartless robots. God forbid that some people here care about human life. It is always my hope to see someone persuaded against making a life-threatening decision rather than see them die.

I know in my car if you put something heavy in the passenger seat the chime would go off so I just connected the wires under the seat like others have said and I will most likely have to do this in the Camaro too. I wouldnt really worry about all the flaming here its just become a bunch of hypocritical idiots on the site.
Good luck and enjoy your car.

The funny thing is, nobody ever said anything about not wearing seat belts. A bunch of internet fun police went off half-cocked about it and made this thread suck.

I also want to know the answer for this.. why... well my drive way is 1/2 mile long. . . dirt driveway. .. and when I get the mail at the end of it, I really don't want to hear the car yelling at me for going back my drive with no seat belt.
get of your high horse people. . I am sure he / she doesn't care anything about what you THINK he should do.

And while your laying there, the tax payers are picking up the tab for your bad decision. Yeah, that's what insurance is for but it eventually runs out.

The steps to turn it off involve sticking one finger up your nose while flapping your arms to make farting sounds from your pits.... It wasn't worth it.
