Start from a stop, put the car in M, hit the left paddle until you see a 1 on your speedometer. Then start driving, once you hit around 3,000 RPMS hit the right paddle (upshift) and keep doing it everytime you get near 3,000+ RPMS. It will down shift for you as needed. If you want to go fast, hit the left (downshift) paddle while driving and it will put you in a lower gear , higher RPM. 1st gear in the SS is pointless unless you are racing. Once you get the hang of it, it is much more fun because you can lightly accelerate and still hear the engine roar unlike in full automatic mode.

It's more for fun but practical in certain applications. I like it when I want to "downshift" to slow down knowing I'm only going to gear up shortly after. Those that had this don't pretend to have a manual car, at least I don't. I love how manual drivers seem to raise themselves up like they are the TRUE drivers out on the road. Yes, manuals are fun but sometimes are more of an annoyance when it comes to bad weather and traffic to those of us that have these cars as DD. I also find it funny how a lot of the super cars like Ferrari and Porsche have these shifters similar to the way our Camaros have them. A bit more advanced on how they are used but still there.

I personally prefer it over a manual. I've driven my share of them believe me. With todays automatics you are always under power and have complete control over shifting with tapshift. I can't say how many times I've been behind someone and have to tap the brakes while they make their shift with a manual, how annoying. Plus with the buttons on the shifter it fits my driving style perfectly.

I agree

I don't think a large percentage of LS3 drivers could out-shift any common joe that just slams the gas to the floor.

On a curve can you see it? I've read many post of people complaining they lose awairness of the wheel shifters on a twisty road.

Surprising to see how many new ZL1's and Corvette's are auto compared to stick on dealer lots. Far more autos.

Not at all. Majority of the people can't drive a stick.

Tapshift is perfect for my generation of lazy people.
100% agree

Use it at random. Usually on open stretches of road or light traffic conditions. I like that it holds the gears for you and doenst force shifts like other cars do.

Thanks for the quick lesson. Maybe I will try it on the way home from work today.

Another use for it is around here we have a lot of steep hills and downgrades, going up you can put it in a lower gear to avoid the constant downshifting and up shifting that auto mode usually does and going down long steep grades you can put it in a lower gear to use engine braking to keep from overheating your brakes.

Mostly I use it around town to hold gears longer to hear the sound of my MRT V2 exhaust.

I wish I could find a more economical shifter with side buttons, anyone know of one for say under $200?

I used sticks for a little over 15 years and honestly when I got my paddle shifters, I just can't stop using it...it's fun and easier to use. Not to mention that changing gear is a lot faster than sticks...no wonder most of the supercars have it...(used in Formula 1 too).

I love the fact it turns off the AFM on the L99 don't have the funds for a Range AFM imobilizer , and a tune is not in the picture until the warranty runs out.

I never did until I got my exhaust done.. It's a must if you don't want the AFM kicking in. I have 4 years left on my warranty so no tune until then.
