Even if the dealer is cool with it, from what I understand if it were a major repair (engine, transmission, ect.) a regional GM rep would have to approve the repair first, someone please correct me if I am wrong.

And before someone says "Magnuson-Moss", it would be Scott's responsibility to lawyer up, take GM to court, and prove the aftermarket tune had nothing to do with damage to his powertrain. I'm also relativly certain all PCM flashes GM does have to go through emissions testing first. Which means I'm also relativly certain any aftermarket PCM modifications would violate Federal Emission laws. Right or wrong, how likely would a judge be to side with someone on a warranty claim who is breaking Federal law? There is almost no way you can tune your car and keep the warranty.

I agree with GM on this too, they sell you a car and give you a warranty for how they sold it to you. If you go changing things to make more power, it is not how GM sold it to you, and while its your right, its not GM's responsibility to pay for it when it breaks. You have to pay to play.

Otherwise leave it stock, and its GM's responsibility to make it perform as advertised. It sucks that its taking so long, but I really do believe they'll figure it out. Just keep in mind, while it would cost the consumer ~$250 to get a single car tuned, GM has to figure out the exact single problem to fix thousands of cars, and spend up to millions on a campaign to warranty all affected vehicles. Not the buyers problem, but in reality its a big sh*t sandwich and everyone has to take a bite, just be patient and GM will work it out.
QFT (Quoted for TRUTH)

Can we please sticky this?????

If I read one more Magnuson-Moss Act post, seriously....

Go hang out on one of the vette forums...they STILL keep talking MM...lol. Guys mod the heck out of their car, blow the motor and want GM to pay...how ridiculous!

I agree that the post about GM denying warranty needs to be a sticky...maybe people can finally figure out that MM really isn't worth the paper it is written on if you are a car owner. It generally protects companies like Fram from getting sued if GM were to deny a warranty for someone using one of their filters. This is an OEM EQUIVALENT, not a power adder...there is a BIG difference here.

EXACTLY!!!

The whole purpose of that act is to allow people to have their vehicle (or other product) repaired or maintained outside a dealership and still maintain the warranty. That way, if you want, you can go to autozone or oreilly and buy parts without spending and arm and a leg, as long as they meet OEM specifications. Like if you went with NGK plugs instead of AC Delco, as long as they meet OEM specifications, it should not void your warranty. Now if you move up or down a heat range, that is NOT OEM spec. Same thing with performance parts, if they are not OEM specs....

Why don't you A6 guys do one of those online petitions? Maybe spread the word to other Camaro sites. If you guys want to make a website about the issue I can supply you with hosting free of charge of course. I really feel for you guys, It's like fighting city hall. You know you are right but you keep getting ignored.

I have had no issues with my L99. It is very fast and running like it should. I have a modded 97 Trans Am and previously drove a 2005 GTO so I know if it feels right. Hope those with problems get fixed soon. My SS spins wheels and throws me into my seat everytime I punch it.

Before people start talking about stickying this, how about giving your source, especially for the bold parts?

seriously you think that if you twin turbo a car or heads and cam then your tranny blows or you snap an axle, you think GM is going to pay your dealer to fix it

NO

and GM has said themselves that a "tune" will/can void your powertrain warranty(you may get lucky and your dealer does "some thing") thats why they plug a tech 2 in and take a screen shot and send that to GM and thats how a warranty claim works

if you don't believe it i really think you should give it a try, but don't b surprised when you got to foot the bill, i know and am perfectly fine knowing that when i mod(other than bolt ons) bye bye warranty . not saying it wouldn't be nice though

I don't feel I have too much choice. I've given the car plenty of time to 'wakeup' and after 50 runs of 0-60 over the past 3 weeks, my average is still over 6 seconds. I had a few goos iPhone app runs but aparemtly an anomaly because my past 5 yesterday and today have averaged over 6 seconds. Around 6.4 and my two quarter miles including one tonight was 14.3 and 14.5 seconds. I video recorded the rum as well and they matched when I timed the vids.
