They are DRL's with the RS package, not with just the SS. On an RS, any trim, the "fogs" are the DRL's.

Let me make one point VERY clear: I am NOT looking to start a pissing contest, so don't try!

I prefer the standard lights. The HIDs are too harsh, more toward the blue/white spectrum, creating massive glare.

Here's the Wiki:

theres no such thing as blue/white spectrum... white light is a combination of all the colors of light together... therefore the white spectrum encompasses blue and everyother spectrum as well...

education is not your friend ... lol sorry i had to be technical

Haha, good point. Also, the point of the Kelvin measurment of HID's (around 4200 for stock HIDs on most cars) is supposed to be closer to the natural color of light such as from the sun. When you look at the beam itself it is white, the blue comes from the bending of the light near the cut off shield due to the lens. HID's are very bright and harsh, when you look straight into them, that's what the cutoff shield is for. You absolutely can't beat the width of HIDs, and the brights are absolutely incredible, turning night into day

Education is not your friend. ... Lol. Sorry I had to be "technical".
I fixed your post for you.

I post something to be helpful and add meaningful content to the thread and you have to be an ass?

Pick nits much? If you want technical, I'm an EE and can measure the exact light output both level and frequency and post it. You know exactly what I was saying. You just chose to be a jerk. (No smiley or other indication of attempt at humor)

Here's a nice Wiki that's pretty simple to understand:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_spectrum

If you want to see a chart of the entire spectrum from VLF to gamma, the FCC has a nice chart on their website. I leave it to you to go search for it. It will be educational. Consider it penance.

Here's another Wiki about HID lighting:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gas-dis...ischarge_lamps

where is the  smiley? I got an A in Electical Engineering in College but don't really care how many lumens or where the lights fall in the spectrum between VLF and gamma... all I care about is that the HID and halos look BAD ASS!!

I may do a switch so i can have just the halos and not the fogs. It will be easy, just more wires and then I have to figure where to mount the switch inside the car without drilling any holes.

Anyone done this yet?
yes but you need to change the DRLs over to HID or that would just look ugly

Not disagreeing but why? Or is it b/c when the head lights are on I'd have HID lights and then crappy halogen "fogs" (I know they aren't technially fogs)?

I think thats what he meant, the HIDs wouldn't look good with halogen fogs below. I feel the same way
