My 1969 Herbie the love-bug Volkswagen has paddle shifters installed and a custom rainbow paint job. lol.. kidding..

My opinion about paddle shifters vs regular H clutch systems is that I really don't like paddle shifting at all. I tried it on an automatic Nissan 350Z and it simply wasn't as much fun to drive. However having that option on the V6 or V8 Camaro might garner some interest to some people..

I was thinking manual originally, but the paddle shifters are growing on me. Especially if only the auto is going to get Active Fuel Management. We'll see when I can test drive both at the dealership.

Hi guys, new to the board. Here is my two cents...I have a 2004 grand prix GTP comp G with paddle shifters on it and i love them. I have driven cars with manuals (dads '69 Z28, trucks, and a 95 z28 camaro) and i can't say i like the paddles more, but i do like the convienience of the automatic when driving in the city, but still being able to redline it with the paddle shifters. I have also driven a 350z and i will admit, it doesn't shift as fast as my GTP. I would prefer the paddles just because i have no real use for the manual, other than taking it to the track. I can still outrun most manual mustang GT's, and quite a bit of other manuals (mostly tuners, etc.). I wouldn't mind either of them, i would prefer the paddles though, they just make it that much cooler.

...Unless you didn't have to touch the clutch pedal while upshifting...like on bikes with air shifters.Just use the clutch to launch, then just hit the button to upshift.

In a perfect world we would have a paddle-shifted dual-clutch manual gearbox. Then again the Vette doesn't even have that yet. Since I am buying the car for my wife, it will have to be an automatic. I hope its the same tranny and motor combination as the CTS-V. Anyone see the video of the sub-8 min. lap at Nurburgring? It was a paddle shifted automatic!

Is it really better fuel economy than manual with a clutch? Perhaps you meant automatic..
