In my opinion this country needs to go BACK TO a person being able to have the right to protect his property, land, family etc. without goverment yahoos getting in the way of things. If someone is stupid enough to threaten a man's livelyhood, family, or property...they deserve the NATURAL recourse.

It's BECAUSE of the current laws that low-life's and criminal types do what they do...because they know the laws will protect them from getting what they SHOULD have coming to them. Free food, room, and board never stopped any low-life from making the wrong decision.

At the very least (to be fair anyway)...that still-burning cigarette butt should have been thrown/flicked right back onto the guy; and then he needs to be reminded of why his actions won't be tolerated in society.

Yea no crap! This stuff doesn't happen to often in texas, we're all packing...LEGALLY! I've got a shotgun that I carry, the shortest legal barrel that I can buy in my truck...The shotgun won't kill someone since I'm using a smaller load of shot in there, but its enough to "deter" someone ROFLOL...

While I wouldn't shoot someone for vandalizing my car, people have to realize what a slippery slope these vandals are on...not respecting a person can lead to theft, and then disrespecting a person by causing them bodily harm.

I'm not saying I condone someone going around and shooting people just because the person looked at them funny. All I'm saying is that the guy wouldn't have done that if he knew he COULD get shot for it.

People won't do a lot of things if they knew they could legally incur bodily harm (or worse) as an on-the-spot recourse.

Deadly force is NEVER authorized to protect PROPERTY in any state in the US. Military property is an exception. A base commander can authorize deadly force to protect property.

In Washington throwing a burning material (ie; a cigarette butt) from a moving vehicle will get you a $1050.00 fine. Get the plate and call the law, then sit back and let them do their jobs. In the long run it's just as gratifying and you don't have to do jail time for it!
