Just for fun lets use some known values and ballpark this:
(Mustang prices based on KBB 5/2008) Mustang Deluxe Coupe: MSRP $20,445 Mustang Premium Coupe: MSRP $21,675 Mustang GT Deluxe Coupe: MSRP $27,035 Mustang GT Premium: MSRP $28,215 Approx. LPV (Lutz Premium Value): $1,500 Camaro V6: Mustang Deluxe + LPV = $21,945 Camaro V6 Nicely Equipped: Mustang Premium + LPV = $23,175 Camaro V8 Base: Mustang GT Deluxe + LPV = $28,535 Camaro V8 Nicely Equipped: Mustang GT Premium + LPV = $29,715 (http://www.crateenginedepot.com) LS3RP (LS3 Retail Price): $6,195 LS7RP (LS7 Retail Price): $12,999 Camaro FI V8: (Camaro V8 Nicely Equipped - LS3RP) + LS7RP = $36519 Yes I know GM doesn't pay retail for their engines, and no they're not using the LS7 as far as we know. The current LS7 crate motor makes a nice price benchmark for a 500+ hp LS series engine. |

I would only say for GMs accounting, I figure a better matchup would be HP-HP rather than Cyl-Cyl
The base Mustang V6 is 210hp. The possible(maybe we won't have one) T4 is 260. The Mustang V8 is 300hp. The possible V6 candidate from the current CTS is 304hp. The V8 for the new Camaro will be at least 400hp according to remarks from GM. |

How come most of you only have a 3000$ difference between base and loaded prices. The difference is always way more than that. I mean 1000$ for wheels, 1000$ for leather and then theres top end audio, all the electic options, more money for some paint colors, special exhaust, suspensions, striping.......

Base Mustang V6 with Destination $20445
Loaded Out $24875 +$4430 BUT that includes a bunch of crap. Front end cover full car cover Mobile-Ease Cell phone system Power Code remote start system SplashGuards TripTunes - Ipod connection ![]() All weather floor mats Cargo Net Take those off and MSRP drops to $23005 +$2560 GT Premium $28215 + Every Cost Option with the Cali pkg (Bullitt is more restrictive on options) $35970 +$7755 Remove: GT Appearance Comfort Interior Upgrade TripTunes - Ipod connection ![]() All weather floor mats Cargo Net Sirius Ambient Lighting Metallic Fuel Cap Mobile-Ease Cell phone system MSRP $33305 +$5090 in Options Its hard to say what options will be available at any given level. We don't have definitive information on what engine, axle, interiors or trim levels will yet be available. Usually higher level trims will have leather standard. (G8 GT) It may be that there is an SS pkg. and it already has 2.75" dual Exhaust and a 3.73 rear axle standard. There may not be any optional exhaust or axle or any need depending on the Trim selections. Untill we know more $3k is a reasonable avg markup to play with. |

My very UNeducated guesses:
Base car - 300hp DI V6 - $22k - 25k Base V8 - 400+hp LS3 - $28k - $32k Top V8 - 505hp LS7 (hey, it was on the SS concept drawings so why not?) - $37k - $41k

The Cadillac price is from Cadillac.com. http://www.cadillac.com/byo/jsp/cadi...=cts&year=2008 I am just pointing out that the DI-V6 we hope makes the Camaro, that is in the current CTS if you option it, out makes a 40K car. The Camaro prices I speculated are above the base prices and in line for the comparable HP Mustang. I feel its safer to compare HP-HP rather than Cyl-Cyl. The Ford V6 is 210hp. Ths T4 in the Solstice GXP is 260hp. Expect them to be a similar price point. The Current V8 Ford is 300hp the Caddy V6 is 304. If its less and the Camaro comes in a Cyl-Cyl pricing, I will be pleasantly supprised. If it isn't, I fear no few people will be devastated. |

why not make the v6 300hp
i think they will make the v6 300 horses. and make it around the same price as the v6 mustang. the mustang v8 sales would suffer even more due to the fact that our v6 will out power their v8. it is like the movie american ganster; you sale a good product for a cheap price and people who one loved the mustang now are camaro owners. Believe that chevy will make money on the car no mater what.

I dont think there will be a big difference in the base V6 price and the base V8 price. The difference between the G8 sedan and the G8 GT is only $2,400. So im going to revise my guess and say:
Base V6(300hp) $25,500 Base V8(400hp) $28,500 Top Dog V8(525-550hp) $39,500 (includes upgraded breaks, wheels, and exterior) |
