With street tires and that type of hp is that too much?
I run with this group through the canyons behind my house and I think too much hp without the proper suspension and tires is a disadvantage. With all the stages you have been through is there a sweet spot with street tires?

Its definitely a lot of power and I've gone past the limit of the VREDs that i currently have on the car. Im switching to Mickey Thompson ET street Drag radials when the car comes out of winter storage. That should hopefully get some of the drivability back

VRED's are probably VSHRED's with that type of hp. Why did your motor blow? My next mod would be full cam and valve train with a fuel system upgrade, but, that's a lot of money and I'm content for now.

Tim, I'm a huge fan of the ET S/S. I had the nitto 555R for awhiile and they didn't hook well. Once I switched to the ET S/S, it was a world of difference. The car hooked felt more secure. The only thing you're going to notice is the cornering is a little soft especially with running front radials, but you get used to it. It's worth the trade off.

It's funny, I was thinking of doing the cam when during this set of mods and I chose not to. I like incremental power increases. First, the constant wow factor and second, it gives you a chance to learn the limits of the car. I'm sure by middle to end of next summer I'll be camming it though. Btw, love the pic above man. Def some nice cars!

Thanks. Yeah, that's how my build went together. A little at a time and I liked it that way. The only reason I was thinking of a cam was because of the reliability issues with the stock L99 valve train. Of course, if I did a cam I would have to upgrade the fuel system, etc. Do you have a converter?

I did the gradual approach to all my mods.

but hell all started 2 years ago when i went and added the ZL1 pump, ADM controller 3.0 pulley and torco race gas. It was pushing 13.2lbs of boost on an all stock internals. I kept getting this horrible backfire under heavy load every now and then...couldnt replicate the issue. It would completely fall on its face and backfire several times while blowing blacksmoke out the back. It would clear itself up within seconds and be fine...no CEL or anything. Brought it to my shop they couldn't figure it out either and then 1 month later it did it again and this time it bent a connecting rod. Ended up being a valve float. Should have done a valvtrain upgrade but was planning on doing that when i did the cam. Oh well.

I have 900 miles on the car now and still having minor issues with it. The car leans out in cold weather, which is not good. So I'm getting extremely frustrated and poor with this car and gotta figure it out in the spring.

That's unfortunate and frustrating. I appreciate that feedback. It gives me an idea of upgrading my valve train and fuel system later on. As I stated before, I'm content with my power and kept my 6200rpm redline. I would do a moderate blower cam and raise my redline up to 6800. I would not want to run more than 10psi. Hopefully it will last for a while the way it is.

Just don't go crazy on the boost and you will be fine!

I wanted to do the ls3 conversion with a blower cam too because of the stock l99 valve train. I do not have a converter yet. I'm actually toying with that too. Just not sure what converter to go with. I honestly don't know anything about them. This is the first auto I've ever owned. Also, I was thinking someday I would do a 4l80 conversion. Do you have any insight on converters?

Dude! That makes me sad to read. I hope you get it figured out in the spring. I had a problem with my car reading rich, extremely rich. Luckily it was only the sensor going bad once I got it back on the rollers to confirm. I wish you luck man. I know you use Jannetty, but New Era in New York is great. Mike, the owner and tuner is a mad scientist. Might not hurt to get a second look at it by it someone. Every time I have called him he helped out right away and if there was a problem seemed to know what it was right away. He's a specific GM tuning guy.
