The 4th gens that came with Z rated tires also had a 155 speed limit, 5 minutes with HP tuners and the limit is whatever you want it to be.

I'm a little concerned over the auto transmission, not sure if thats been in service much but I am going to slap a supercharger on my camaro when I get it.

If you keep your camaro stock you have nothing to worry about with the warranty as far as how you drive it.
Its becuse of GM's history of voiding warranties.

I wonder if that data recorder can be programmed out......

If speed voided your warranty, then simply put the limiter at the factory controlled speed limit. Simple. Speed can not void it, if they build it to go that fast and have the controls to limit it if they want to. Use a little logic.

OMFG! The black box is the SDM. Sensing diagnostic module. It is used in the restraints system to deploy airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners, brake lamp on-off, speed, 2 stage airbag deployment (if needed),etc. There is NO NEED for a tech to access this and use it against you for warranty work. It is AGAINST PRIVACY LAWS> I'm a GM tech and know this 100%!
Reading this thread and watching some of you respond scared of your warranty being void is hillarious. YOU CAN NOT BE DENIED! If you were in an accident and under cicumstances the police investigating took your black box, YOU possibly did something wrong or the car malfunctioned. This box is used for lawfull purposes or diagnosis of the system.
If an airbag deployed because YOU hit something and you said it deployed for NO REASON< then YES - it can be looked at for voiding warranty because of FRAUD!
As long as your not being an idiot on the road and causing accidents, or excessively speeding and getting caught, YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!
If a tech tells you info on what you did in your car for his kicks to scare you- tell him that unless he had damn good reason to be in that diagnostic, he just violated your privacy and you can make a BIG stink about it to GM.
