I love how they act like it won't affect anything yet it bothered them enough to take out the time and send you an e-mail. Clearly it makes a difference. Good Job

Some dealers are selling 30 Camaro's a month in Michigan, a state crushed by the economy, while there are idiot dealers TRYING to sell for thousands over sticker. If I were a salesman, I would rather sell 15 cars a month at retail price and bring home a nice check for my family so they can eat then have to try to justify to customers why their dealership is so overpriced while their family starves.
If all these dealers had 15 Camaros per month to sell at MSRP, you would not see anyone selling them for over the MSRP.

Some dealers have many dozens of alocations available because of the sales volume of the dealership. Because of the volume they can afford to sell for less than MSRP and because they sell so many the sheer volume of sales makes for a tidy profit.

The majority of dealers are willing to sell at MSRP and in some cases actually honor Supplier and Employee discounts. The few that are are not honoring MSRP and selling over that price, either have a huge demand or their supply is so low they do not mind holding a Camaro for a few days. Our dealership will sell at MSRP on all ordered Camaros.

We have one showroom model a SS2 6sp Manual with RS and 20" Polished Wheels that we are offering at $2500 over. If someone wants to jump the Que Line ahead of the 8 orders we have arriving and purchase this one so be it, however, we clearly explain they can puchase the same car for less by ordering, we currently are selling about 6 Camaro per month and have a steady stream of presold arriving weekly. 6 Weeks from order to delivery is now the norm instead of the exception, so we encourage everyone to order and leave us the showroom model to use as a point of sales.

Well either those were messages from dealers..................... or angry buyers who paid over MSRP :-P

The thing is, Camaro's aren't at all "rare" or "scarce". Give it another year for production to catch up, and you'll be seeing them all over the place just like Mustangs. And they'll be sitting on dealer lots. And these poor suckers who paid over MSRP will be $10k further in the hole for a car that "everyone" has.

Of course. I originally ordered the 2LT with the $5k markup - but then came on here and found out that the dealer was raping me - and worked a deal for the 2SS.

Trust me. You'll see plenty of 2010 and 2011 Camaro's on the road.

IF you don't live out in the boonies.

Its American as Apple Pie

I dont knock dealers for charging more than MSRP.. Profit is good for business boys and girls.. If you are willing to shop around and pay only msrp or less thats great.. If someone wants a car now and pays more thats great too..
Those dealers are not making a lot of money at msrp...
If you are really upset about it wait and buy a used one in two or three years with low miles.. you will save thousands.
Take care..

Is that why they will build & sell many more V6 Camaros than the V8's ?......

Thats your opinion and thats ok, but people like that drive the price up for everyone else. BTW just because someone "has the money" does not mean they have more brains than anyone else . They may just be in a different stage in their life. I make light years more at 35 than I did at 18.

My personal opinion, is that dealer markups are a good business practice in terms of getting the most out of your customers. Some people are more than willing to pay these prices -- those people are half to blame. They are the "demand" so many people talk about in this debate.

However...there ain't no way in hell that I'm paying a markup.

I agree, money and brains do not always go hand in hand. but people calling other people stupid or dumb because they spent THEIR money on something THEY wanted and it was more than that original person was willing or able to pay, is childish. sorry to tell you folks this but you can't tell other people how to spend their money. Paying over msrp is the price you pay to jump to the head of the line imo. I guess the people that pay extra for front of the line privileges at amusement parks are stupid and dumb also, as they walk right onto the ride everyone else is waiting for. just my opinion, not trying to anger anyone.

I'm not calling any one out or anyone dumb but there is that old saying " A fool and his money are soon parted". Hey God bless you if you're personally trying to make everyone else rich and bring us out of this recession. More power to you.

As far as dealer mark up goes....my local dealer has a "market adjustment" of 8k on every camaro they have..... looked at another dealer an hour away and they had them for sticker....be smart and look around, drive if you have to!
