They are low-production, high-performance, special engine/suspension package cars. From what you've said about the 5th gen Z/28, that's not enough to make them collectible so what is the magic ingredient they possess that the Z/28 doesn't?
Mentioned in my first post on the topic: "But of course, prices are based on demand and if suddenly these are being clamored over for some reason, maybe that price would be reasonable"

It's no big secret that in 69/70 the daytonas/superbirds were looked at as a joke. Dealers couldnt unload those things to save their lives. Now look, they bring in some of the highest bids. Like I also mentioned, i don't really understand a lot of the collector prices. A 69 COPO Camaro isnt worth 100k+ to me, limited production run or not. Badass car, excellent history and a true testament to a great era...but that is it. a 14-15 Z is worth every penny of the 75k price tag, but im not willing to over pay either.

Edit: The above is an argument against me and for you on purpose because the bottom line is I do not know what will happen. I dont believe these will be the highly sought after cars, similar to what we see now with old classics, I also hope that too. That generally leads to these cars being priced out of worthy owners' hands or locked away in garages never to see track or street time.

Either way, what is also very important to me is that the enthusiasm everyone here as about the car is the same enthusiasm I share about them as well.

They must want to really move that one at $80k. I am only asking $180k for my used Z28...that is how bad I want to sell it. No calls yet which is all good.

One thing I have learned in sales is "if you don't ask, you don't get".

Just thought I'd inform you all that they're now asking $126,300.

Same here! Do you regret at all taking the ZL1 over the Z28?

I didn't bother to stick around for the 8+ trips to the magic back room, mostly because they were starting at $80,000.00. And it has 209 miles on it.

Is what I read on this forum true, Z/28 owners - that a NEW 2015 can be had for less? Sometimes a lot less? Thanks.

Here's the listing: http://www.chevyworld.com/VehicleSea...ww.google.com/
I took that exact same car for a test drive back in March of this year. They wanted MSRP plus fees back then. I offered them 61 K out the door. The deal never moved beyond that.
