But yet it doesn't.
2 tired wage scales have been happening since 2000.

Yeah but...the first lines kind of sums it up:

"Shifting demand from cars to trucks and SUVS is forcing General Motors to lay off more than 2,000 workers 'INDEFINITELY' at two assembly plants in Ohio and Michigan starting in January."

I paid quite a bit more for my truck than my Camaro. When my wife had to have a truck because it looked cool. Yeah it looks cool in all its jacked up big tire glory. But it rides like a damn truck and I have to climb up into it.
Does the other guy and your wife know about the lunch date?

The one at the nearby Lordstown plant in 2007 was a gem. 14 bucks an hour to start as a temp.....with no benefits for months (if they decided you were worthy of staying)
Really took advantage of an area of the state that was already hurting from lost steel jobs.
Folks were still lined up for those jobs.

Its getting to the point where theres a 3 tier system.....full time...contract...outside manpower. All working in the same setting. Talk about tension.

I interviewed for one of the skilled trades at one. It was a third party contractor that had replaced GM workers. Yeah, NO tension there LOL.
There were boundaries to what you could and could not do. Big time.
Money was so-so for what it should have paid.
