![]() Let me add to the weight factor, 273 TQ is pretty low for a car this heavy.Quote:

I've owned an 81 Camaro 267 V8 (yeah, don't laugh, I think 115 HP), 73 Z28 RS (original 350 changed to a stroker 383 with plenty of HP), then an 83 Ferrari Gtsi QV (what was I thinking but hell of a lot of fun), and then yeah, a rice burner 02 Honda S2000 with a 4 cylinder (amazing car BTW), and now am awaiting my 2010 2LT RS. As long as you like it that's all that matters.

Why do guys bring up the cars of the past that had less hp to try and make a point. Because you aren't telling the whole truth to the matter, we all know in the mid 70s to late 80s the government all but banned hp because of the fuel crisis. So lets look at the factors to why those cars weren't burning up the streets, if the restrictions weren't there trust me those cars would have been putting out lots of power.
Comparing todays cars to an era with restrictions imposed isn't wise.

Look at it this way. Most people that love this car for what it is don't care what engine you bought. They bought the V8 because their preferance is overall performance, but they don't care why you bought it. The only people that care what you are doing are people that bought a V8 just so they can say they have a V8.
Ever read The Star-Bellied Sneetches by Dr. Suess when you were a kid? Yeah, those kind of people. ![]() Quote:

I still think my V6 is a ROCKETSHIP!!!...
It's fast enough for me, for the way I drive, and for my DD... ![]() My husband has a '95 Corvette that he bought used 3 yrs ago, and I had a '76 Firebird 350HP V8, 'back in the day'...so, 'been there, done that', with the V8s and the manual transmissions... I am enjoying my car just the way it is, as I might have mentioned once or twice on this forum... ![]() Oh, and did I also mention that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, this car?!?!.............![]()

But, It still isn't nearly as fast. Besides v-6 guys , you should hold to your guns. You start off saying you don't buy them for power then you go on and start talking about power. That makes no sense. Don't be ashamed if you bought the car to save money or lower insurance or because your a not a power person. Last edited by coolman; 11-05-2009 at 10:04 PM. |

LOL! Thanks! I appreciate that!
Had some great planning of it with a few guys from Camaro5. Hylton and Bell. I have some better pics but I have to shrink them down to fit in the garage. Please don't tell me you think there was a V6 Cobalt.. ![]() Anyway, sorry for the off-topic asides. V6 owners have much to be pleased with. I will agree that the Gen4 V6 was underwhelming, but I think the rules have changed. I'll be the first to tell you all that I don't like spending $50.00 to fill my tank and I only drive my car on weekends and not be able to go very far or for very long. I knew I wanted the car loaded with all the options and power, but it could in no way be an everyday driver for me. V6 owners are smart, thrifty and can have the Camaro that works for them. My car works for me because though I like the power without mechanical modding, I love appearance upgrades and enhancements, but only those tastefully done. This just suits me, but guys like 1320 junkie and TAG UR IT (I'm not brown nosing but your exhaust system sounds amazing) are all about the raw power, bolt-ons, track performance, etc. That works for them and a V6 will work for you. If power was first and foremost on your mind, you would have made whatever concessions possible to get the SS. Believe me, you would have found a way to afford it. No Camaro owner should be ashamed or second guess themselves with a V6 or V8. You are lucky enough to have a first year Generation 5 Camaro in any flavor trim and that in itself is a special treat. Different strokes for different folks. Last edited by DkknightX; 10-28-2009 at 04:08 PM. |

i got a 2lt rs and sometimes i feel i wish i had the v8. im 20 so other guys in my age bracket give me alot of garbage for it. be honest if i went with the SS i wouldn't of been able to get the rs package, just bone stock. i look at it this way i got a great looking car thats awsome to drive i save my self a ton of money and once i graduate respiratory therapy school i can by what ever i want but for now its a perfect car and i truly love it...and thats what counts

And who says a V6 driver isn't a "power person"? It has a lot of power. It doesn't have the most available, but it has a lot. That's like saying someone's not a real fan of steaks because they got the 18-oz cut instead of the 24. Either way it's a heck of a lot more than most people are getting.
