18 with a 2LT/RS = 600 a month just for insurance so no SS for me...............yet
The v6 is a great car and like i said in my other post, it gets alot of respect. For the younger crowd, getting the v6 makes alot of sense, especially if you want it to be your daily driver |

It kind of looks like you are a V8 hater??? Seriously, just ignore folks like that. I know if you come to me hating on me about my V8 will be ignoring you... Shortly I will have a V6 also and I plan to do lots of mods to it with my son and it will be his car when he pays me for it (at a reduced rate of course, lol). These cars are awesome no matter which you get, just enjoy it... |

I thought I bought a top of the line Cobalt SS/SC back in 2006. The thought of getting cheated...I knew what he meant though.

Nothing wrong with a V6 Camaro. Suits your need and want, that is all there is to it. I think what some of the guys find borderline annoying is when a V6 owner starts a coulda, woulda, shoulda stuff. IMHO, when one goes out of his/her way to explain and justify why he/she got the V6, it does make one sound like a coulda, woulda, shoulda.
304hp is a lot, but not a lot for a 3600 pound car. People tend to forget to factor that in. Nonetheless, overall, you get a lot of car for the money. Like you said, you have your whole life ahead of you to get a V8 or even bigger if you so decide. For now, it does sound like you made the correct choice in getting the V6 over the V8, that's good. Enjoy what you have and don't mind what others think. Peace. |

I'll tell you why to buy a V6 Camaro "muscle car"...because it can stand its own against even the venerable V8 powered LT-1 engine found in Vettes/Fbodies from the early 90's. Even comes down to a drivers race with a 2010 Mustang GT! If your takin' heat from the 2010 Camaro V8 crowd because of cost vs. horsepower ask them how they like spending $36k+ on a car that stock is as fast as the 4th gen. F-body (Camaro/Firebird) from 1998! Each to his own!

Don't feel bad one bit, I bought the 2lt for the same reason... I don't race , I don't care how loud my engine is and after test driving the v6 at the dealer, it was quite fast. Fastest V6 I've ever driven to be honest. It's much quicker than my V8 Police cruiser.

Tune v6 and add 50+ horses add a super charger then we're talking about kicking v8's butt. Butt who cares, we're all bro's and sis's here. Besides... your v8 might be faster but when we park I can kick your ass in the parking lot .p

Don't taunt us! The wait for somebody to crack the computer and offer tunes & forced induction is EXCRUCIATING. Lingenfelter's telling us they're "almost ready" and that's even worse!

I'm a fan of Camaro's, I don't really care what engine is under the hood. I just rented a LT1 from Avis a week ago and absolutely fell in love with it

Anyone who makes snide comments about a 300hp car is being silly
Net is that by default on a camaro forum you will see a lot of enthusiasts who have been saving for these cars for years and will buy the V8 (most of the initial sales have been V8s too) - but over time I expect we will see a lot of V6s too since they offer outstanding value. I have had a lot of conversations with folks who ask about my car and they are blown away when I tell them that the V6 has 300hp and at a very reasonable price Just be proud of driving a camaro .

well some think that it must be 8 cylinders and stick shift because if you are capable of driving stick shift you are pretty much qualified to be a nascar driver or something. As long as you are happy that's all that matters. If you like 6 and that's enough power for you then go for it. Stick is what you want ? Go for it. Auto ? Go for it. don't worry about what other people think, there is no convincing them so don't try. That's what I try and tell my daughters all the time.

Don't get me wrong I like all the camaro's even the ls. But, in today's world 300hp is the new 200hp of days gone by. When you can get 426hp in a $35000 dollar car 400hp in a truck, and 500hp to 600hp in higher end cars. 300hp is not that much in a car that heavy. Someone brought up early about the v-6 camaro beating an 80's camaro. Well, the best one in the 80's was a v-6 tubro. The trans am pace car, and the new v-6 camaro would not beat that. The best v-8's of that time only had 215hp. Put 300hp in an 80's camaro and you will kill the new v-6 camaro because they where a lot lighter. That is the main reason people bust on the v-6 in the new camaro. That being said not everyone buys for speed. The v-6 with the rs package looks just as good. That's why my wife bought one.
