Sorry to be a wet blanket, but that's my 2 cents.
Everyones 2 cents is worth it no matter how wet it is!

You are correct that street racing can be dangerous, but I think there is a difference between "street racing" and "flexing some muscles" if you know what I mean.

I am not condoneing street racing here. It is against the law.

if they can catch you

When I thought of people street racing, this photo came to mind. And for the LEOs on here, what would you have to say to these guys?

From the looks of it, I'd say the guy was trying to cut around people and merge at the last minute and the other guy is thinking " Go ahead, I need the insurance money!"
Anyway, the guy who tried to merge at the last minute into the other lane would be at fault IMHO. Would the guy who was in his lane be at any fault for failing to avoid a collision if he could avoid it or is it, my lane and he ran into me?

Where I live, I'm pretty well known to all of the quick cars around. Usually if someone pulls up next to me revving I know them, & the know that I don't street race anymore. You can tell by my incomplete list of Hotrods/race cars that I've been around. If someone I don't know pulls up next to me that I don't know, I tell them no, if they keep trying, I hit the button, open up the cutouts, let them hear the cam, purge a good bit of nitrous & tell them to meet me at the track that's 10 minutes from the house. Usually once they hear the lumpy cam & know I'm on the kit they cool down.

I have 5 tracks within a 2 hour radius of the house & I run at all of them, so anyone that really races has seen my junk run.

I also own my own business & carry corporate insurance on 2 vehicles, if at the least I get busted racing my insurance will go through the roof. Worse case scenario, is someone pulls out in front of me, or someone wrecks trying to race me & I'm responsible for their death. I'm too old for that stuff these days. I cut my teeth street racing, but it's a different game these days. Used to be that we all went out to a spot out of town that we would have prepped & everything, now a days, stupid people will race in traffic on busy streets. The game ain't the same as it used to be, so it's not for me anymore.

hmm i seem to get more lifted trucks trying to egg me on more than anything. and alot of those damn srt4's (imo still a neon). but nothing so far from any dodge challangers just looks and the occasional nod of approval. a couple of stangs have tried and failed. and of course the typical ricer with their ricer fly bys when you dont bite. all in all at least one encounter a day. i did get my A$$ handed to me by my buddies supra once when i tried to egg him on.... lol
