Sorry, I didn't know people thought "What interior fluff is in that fast car that just passed me" as they look at your tail lights zoom by.

Do they think the mustang-heads would react any differently if we posted each 600-700+ rwhp camaro thats reported here on a mustang forum?

Yes, but in a section specifically in place intended for "General Automotive + Other Cars Discussion"

Since it is not a Camaro, I'm pretty sure the GT500 is considered as an "other car".

In my experience, as long as the thread remains on topic and does not spiral into just another GT500 vs Camaro war of words, the moderators are fine with it. However, thanks to a few, this thread is on its way to getting locked.

correct. Not "Mustang, GT, GT500, and other Mustang models"
See where I'm getting at?
This section is flooded with Mustang threads, and I think our members. Along with us moderators are pretty tired of it. Nothing wrong with a discussion every now and then. But we have come to be known as "the best mustang forum out there." That's not what we are or will be.

Not at all, but this is a 5th gen site first. We are all car entusiasts too, but like I said it really bugs me when Mustang guys come here because "all the mustang forums suck." We're here for the 5th gen first and we're glad to talk about it. But I think we all (moderators) spend more time reading through the mustang threads than we would like.

Yeah can you imagine a Mustang Guy posting a thread about a Mustang on a Camaro forum and it truning into a Camaro Vs Mustang debate..

Man that Camaro site must be full of a bunch of jerks huh....

That's it. I've finally been convinced....

Guys. I'm just gonna demand that we change the name of this site to mustangisbetterthanthecamarosoweshouldallbuymustan gscustheyhavegt500andchevydoesn't.com.org.net.mil. edu.gov

Man and to think I'd have never realized that if these mustang knowledge banks were here to educate us.

I'm so glad you are all here to help us see the light.....

I know this site wasn't started to talk about mustangs , but the creators must of realized with that long rivalry rekindled that it would spark much discussion and comparison among mustang and camaro guys alike.
You are right and we are glad that more than Camaro owners are here. However, If you can't give credit where credit is due then you don't belong here. We expect that all our member must have something that interests them about the camaro... And you should participate in more than Mustang threads... Meaninng, if you are hear only to talk about mustangs then you are in the wrong place. If you participate in other sections of the forum and can at least see the camaro for what it is then you'll be fine. But we've got a few mustang guys who's sole purpose here is to keep us informed on the mustang... That is what we are cracking down on.

"You" was used in a general sense, and most certainly not direct at you. Relax...

NO NO... sorry I probably should have quoted you seperately.

My reply to you was not meant to be heated at all. Just an explanation of what we are looking for. You are in no way considered to be part of that mustang only crowd.. Not at all.

In fact, you are a prime example of someone who likes the camaro but can appreciate any other car for what it does well. I wish more people could differentiate between being complimentary to one while being loyal to another. It really is possible to do both...

Sorry if I made you think you were in the wrong. Quite the opposite.

Okay. Now that everyone has said their piece and vented their frustrations, let's get back on-topic.

Aluminum block and electric power assist steering could end up being pretty significant changes. From my understanding, EPAS saves approximately 35lbs. If that is true, combined with the 88lbs saved with the aluminum block, and you're looking at ~123kb reduction in the front of the car. My 2010 GT500, sans the Shaker 1000 stereo system, tipped the scales at 3870lbs. Take 123lb off that and you're looking at a 540(or more?) horsepower car that weighs in at 3747lbs.

The reduced weight should not only help with acceleration but the better weight distribution should help how the car handles, especially in the turns.

That's my take on it. The new one might be better for a tenth or two, but not worth the wait IMO.

We all know the Camaro > everything in its price bracket and then some. That is more or less a given on these forums lol.

Only you can answer that question. Depends on what you want to get from the car and the deal you are able to make. Remember though, Ford has not yet released the 2011's power numbers. Rumors are that it will be getting a small bump up in power over the 2010.

Oh yeah and that track pack that's being released would make it a better contender (prepares for garagelogic's attack) on the tracks. But you could just go aftermarket for cheaper and probably get the same results. IMO, I would go ahead and buy the 2010 GT500. Why have two cars that are similar (2011 GT vs. 2011 SS) in performance anyway? Your choice though...
