Good Idea

I had the same idea and was planning on driving my 4runner daily and only the camaro on nice days but seems that everyday is a nice day and I cant stop driving the camaro and the 4runner just sits there. I think i sence a bit of jealosy in the driveway. By the way....this is my first post and I love this group. People are so cool and have answered so many of my little questions already by just reading back in all the post.

do what u think is best for u. I can understand where u are coming from. Mines a daily diver right now until I get my other car up and running. Still gone to be driving it about 90% though cant help it. But I wish I could have avoided the winter weather.

Didn't see it coming, but had to buy an '87 B2000 PU for a DD about 3 weeks after getting mine. Gettin' out of that old truck makes the Camaro feel mighty good!

Yet another benefit to have a 'beater' as a DD. Every time you slide into your Camaro... "Camaro, take me away!"

Not stupid at all. I have a second vehicle and at one point I had 2 motorcycles and 4 autos. I downsized to the camaro and my truck and the two bikes. No sense racking up mileage on the camaro all the time.

I hope you guys do take care of those 5th gens. After I wear mine out, I'm going to need another one, so I'll buy yours haha

I'm debating driving it in winter, I'd like to get a little 4x4 1/4 ton or awd car for winter, but I just dont know if I can handle not driving the camaro every day. It'll probably be better for my sanity to just invest in some big a$$ winter tires.

Just buy her a new sewing machine and she won't even notice. Since I bought my wife a new Avalanche in '05 I've bought a new '06 GTO, then an '04 Stratus for a DD (after the sewing machine), traded the Stratus for an '07 HHR DD, traded the GTO for the Camaro, and she hasn't even batted an eye. I've had 3 new and 1 used cars since here last vehicle. She loves her ride and doesn't even want to discuss a new one. You just have to buy her something to take her micro-management off of you.

So now you want to spend more money on another car, increase your insurance, and increase maintenance costs just because you don't want to put miles on your car? Never understood why people buy a new car, but don't drive it because they want to "preserve" it. Weak.

I suggested getting a old clunker to drive back and forth to work for around a $1000 dollars. And she thinks its a stupid idea. I tell her I don't want to put 50 miles a day on this car. As nice as it is, I would like to keep it and drive it on Sunny days and the weekends. She hit the roof and thinks I have lost my mind. What do you guys think?? Is this a stupid idea or have I just gone bonkers?? Any advice appreciated. Thanks
One for work
And one to drive to church on sunday!

I've got a 2500HD Silverado that I was going to drive in bad weather and places I didn't really want to take the new car but...I just can't stop driving it, even when it rains I just want to drive it.

I have a whole list of places for you to go park your brand new Camaro. Maybe we just don't want to pay for repairs to our 'new car'.

And you obviously missed my post... where in some cases insurance costs can actually go down if the Camaro is removed as the primary.

You sir, are not looking at the whole argument. You've set your mind to believe that anyone who doesn't drive their new car as a DD is a 'nancy boy'.

I didn't even mention all those 'first owners' of their well kept 1st-4th gens, who are probably some of the most car-knowledgable people around.

$1000 ? She's freaking out over $1000 ? WTF? Do what I did, buy one of her parent's cars for a DD (02 Impala LS)- then if she thinks you spent too much, tell her to go yell at her parents.

Mine is my daily driver. I don't think it would matter though I can't stay out of the car. Since Christmas I've put 9000 miles on it. Most of those are for just cruising. We do cruises out here 1 or 2 times a week.
