I am sure the engineers had some reason behind it but I just don't get it.

Quick question KMPrenger (or Jackpot) -
I am thinking on getting this setup here. Just to confirm, you only need the 3 part numbers you mentioned, and nothing else? Just seems odd since those parts come out to about 400, and the "axle back system" by Magnaflow is like a grand on their site. X-Pipe http://www.amazon.com/Magnaflow-1138...d=N7RGE07GBCU9 Muffler x 2 http://www.amazon.com/Magnaflow-1123...d=N7RGE07GBCU9 Tip x 2 http://www.amazon.com/Magnaflow-3517...d=N7RGE07GBCU9 Rounded - about 390 there. Similar prices floating around on other sites, etc. Magnaflow Axle Back System http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...zone=all&id=53 Manufacturer site - 950+, various stores online for that kit is 550 - 700. So yeah, just want to make sure I'm not missing something. Thanks!

AlexW,
Yep, that's all you'll need. In my case, I didn't get the resonated X-pipe, so it's a bit cheaper. From what I understand, mine is a bit louder as a result and there is a bit of drone at 45 miles an hour or more. But I'm fine with that. When you ride in a muscle car, you should hear the engine, in my opinion. It's not gonna sound like a V8 of course, but it's definitely deeper and a bit louder, in a good way. It cost me 70 bucks to have the old mufflers cut off, put on the new cans and put the tips on. Really cheap, and it looks a ton better at the back end with larger tips and the suitcases gone. I'm still loving mine. Good luck! Jakpot

alex...yes that is all you'd need. Now in my case, the installer ended up using and bending some extra pipe so that the install fit nice...else it can be a bit tough and the mufflers may have to be placed at awkward angles.
The axle-back kit from magnaflow normally goes for the 550 to 700 range....that 951 has to be an error...otherwise that is pure rape right there lol. Their full cat-back only goes for about 100 more than that! I'm guessing you've read over my thread, but I just want to mention this is not a loud setup...louder than stock sure but not like MRT and others. Also, you may want to try just installing the mufflers and tips first without doing the resonated X. The X, while it will help eliminate rasp and drone, also smooths out the exhaust note to a point that there is almost no "growl"...instead it is just all smooth with a nice tone. Also, you'd save money if you decide you like it without the X. Just thought I'd toss in my .02! Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Jakpot you beat me to it! lol. Hrm..you mention there isn't much drone except at around 45. What about 70ish?
I may just have to try removing the X to see if I gain any growl lol. Well see.

alex, another thought that some have mentioned here...
Per what my installer told me, Magnaflow makes a mufflers just like the ones I used, except the inlet/outlets are in the center instead of on opposite ends. This might be easier to install perhaps? I don't know what the part numbers are, but your installer may know, or just contact someone from the MagnaflowPlus website where I bought my parts.

Thanks for all the quick input guys!
Im not concerned with being loud per say, just a bit "meaner". I was at a show with a V8 with an axle back and a Saleen this weekend, and was feeling a bit of exhaust envy to say the least. ![]() My other concern is the rasp. A lot of the v6 exhausts I've heard in person and online sound a bit "ricey" for lack of a better term when it's revved. Do NOT want that at all. If mellowing it out with the Xpipe fixes that, but you lose some growl, I'm ok with that. I think. Still trying to figure out which terms go with which sounds lol. I will research the other Muffler too. I like what I heard on the vids you used for reference, and yours, so changing something scares me. My luck, that one little change will turn it into a Civic! ![]() Again thanks, I'll post back here if I find anything new worth mentioning.

Regarding the other mufflers:
http://www.magnaflowplus.com/Content...Stainless.aspx This is the staggered: 2.25in./2.25in. 14in. 20in. 11235 http://www.magnaflowplus.com/ShowIte...20Muffler.aspx This is the centered equivalent: 2.25in./2.25in. 14in. 20in. 11215 http://www.magnaflowplus.com/ShowIte...20Muffler.aspx Anyone see any issues that would affect sound/install/performance with that change?

Alex,
I'm not knowledgable enough about "muffler science" to know if a muffler with offset inlet/outlets will sound different than the same design muffler, but with center inlet/outlets. I may not be able to help, but maybe I can point you to someone who can... search for user JDPMotorsports on here. His name is Jordan...hopefully he is still active on here because he is very helpful and would be able to give you and answer concerning any differences with those two mufflers soundwise. I believe he also represents magnaflowplus.com and he may even give you a discount code if you ask! I'd stick with the oval body muffler as opposed to the round style....again it is all opinion, but from what your saying I'd stick with what your looking into. One plus with the magnaflows is almost always a guaranteed nice low tone at cruising speeds with very minimal rasp...so don't worry about that. I'm guessing you've seen the reference video of the Yellow V6 I mentioned in my threads before....if you like that sound (bit more aggressive than mine) I'd try just the mufflers and tips first. If you want it mellower, softer, or less drone after that then install the resonated X. I hope this helps and don't hesitate to keep the questions comming if you have more!
