im sorry, i've been blessed, not many 22/23 year olds have the opportinity to purchase a car like this. dont get me wrong, i've had 750$ a check taken out before i got my hands on it and going directly to my credit union account since i can remember... parents are moving within the next year or so, so why not stick around and be able to save over 1400 a month?
thats my logic
I would move out at 23. Gotta cut the cord at some point. However The house dollar goes a long way here.

I agree with some of this. yes if the kids were out of school and working full time, then it's time to start spreading the wings a bit.

This is a good post, maybe the best post here for all of the "those guys are jealous posts."

I built my first house at 24. I am currently in my second home, with the land purchased for my 3rd at 30 years old. I have money left over for a new vehicle every couple years, trips, snowmobiles, etc.

A person who is out of college and working full time should get their own place. I mean the posts about picking up girls in the hot car...Where do you take these girls..... home to watch wheel of fortune with mom and dad?

i just recently sold my house to start my own company... yes i had to move back in with the parents, but it is a great opportunity to get ahead and not having to worry about rent and utilities... ive had my share of cars when i was younger, but those days are over... while it does bore me to only have a work truck, i know my day is coming back around and what i will be driving will be 10x better than a Camaro or any car i had in the past...

it's funny cause i look around and see the people who had their fast cars in HS and college.. you know what, they're still driving a fast car, but the condition of their life is so unbalanced... most of them either live at home with the parents still or they rent some $750+ month apartment/house... but they still have a fast car with all the friends!!

You can sleep in your car, but you can't drive your house to work.

Love that quote. Always kinda felt the same when hearing people say that. However, SHE might have a house...

Exactly man. Same thing for me, but while I was (still am) living at home nothing was said about me moving out till I got my car. THEN there all giving me crap for it...how I shoulda have moved out...kind of annoying.

There's plenty of places to get busy. It's also a lot more fun that way.

You also don't have to worry about her moving in or over staying her welcome.

I'd tell him "shut the **** up, you worry about your financial decisions and I'll worry about mine"
normally i wouldn't be that blunt right off the bat but if the guy keeps on and on about it then he needs to be told.

I love some of your responses, lol.

Im 38, the guy at work is 36.

I have experienced home ownership before, was a bad deal but I was young and dumb. Hint: don't buy a vinyl village house and expect to come out ahead. The prices of them have never increased.

Probably will again when the right deal comes along on my terms.

Right now I rent a 3 bedroom 2 car garage home off a guy I know, yeah its 700 a month I throw away, but I threw away 1000 a month when I owned a home, and got out of it without making a dime after 10 years. I was lucky I didn't have to pay to sell it.

I can afford a house without selling my car. Selling car would make for huge chunk of downpayment though.

Just because your home is 20-30% paid for when you buy it doesn't mean you made a chunk when you sell, you are just getting your money back. A big downpayment can be a risk, when property values can change like the wind.

Also, Im not sure I want to plow that deep in Indiana. If I found some great job in another state I could pack up and leave.

I own no home, no wife, no kids.

I could get by with a crappier car, but I don't want to right now.

... I am 33 live at home and have my Camaro and a Toy FJ Cruiser, and some killer computers... I've got my toys and live at home... but only because this economy sucks @$$ and I can't find a job... the story goes beyond that even I was in a 7 year relationship that bankrupt me so I had to come home to recover... then I get laid off... I had bought my toys when I was still working though LOL Plus my father has been working out of town the last few years, so it's been good to be here with my mother to help her out around the house. But believe me as soon as I start working again and get settled... I'm moving out LOL I can come over after work or on weekends to help with the property...

Yo Scrappy, you might notice I said a chick WITH a house. I was only kidding anyway. This kid will get his own place and have his Camaro. He doesn,t seem like a lazy guy.
I could buy my 17 year old a car but I want him to earn it. He will take it to his first house/apt.
When he comes here with his Gfriend he can watch whatever he wants.
I want him to enjoy his youth more than I did.
Gotta go wheel of fortune is on.

I guess I'm w/ you, and I'm only 39! You couldn't pay me enough to live w/ my parents at 23, and we've always gotten along great! I guess it's a pride thing. I'd rather have my own place and a truck or something, than live w/ my parents w/ a new Camaro. I don't know about HS girls or 20 yr olds or whatever, but grown up girls are more impressed w/ a guy who has his **** together and takes care of his own business. To be someone who mooches off your parents sends the message that, at the very least, you're lazy and/or lacking in any semblance of pride.

i understand that financially this is the wrong way to go about it BUT WHATS THE FUN IN THAT?!?!
i would rather be having tons of fun in my younger years
having a camaro at 40 with a wife and kids (im assuming) is probably not as fun at being single with a camaro at 23

i will move out and i will have a house... i just postponed that a year or two to have tons of fun, and drive a nice car. what good is a house without anyone to share it with (g/f, wife, kids, ect...) i work 24 hour shifts and when im off, im RARELY home so what good is a house going to do me right now when all i do is sleep and shower in one, and nothing else

i didnt buy this car for anyone else besides me, nor to "show off" yes i like it when people comment, but u will never hear me bring up the fact that i drive a camaro in conversation unless that question is asked (i get the "your just trying to show off" all the time)

this is my point, justified or not this is what i chose and im very happy with it... what i really need to do is get a studio in downtown chicago... then the possibilities will be endless
i like your attitude man. tell those dudes to F off ! i'm 30, no wife, no kids, no girl friend.... my rent is 600 a month and i have a well paying job that i like doing.

I get that talk from people at times. i own a Harley and now my Camaro, people tell me I should own a house. It's silly, a lot of times that kind of talk comes from people who have regrets when it comes to the way their life played out and all they are doing is projecting that onto you.

rock on with the Camaro and the bikes. Stay safe out there and enjoy life.

I have a house (well condo) and no camaro. All my house has ever done for me, aside from keeping the rain off, is lose me money. Ah if I had only sold before the housing crash....
