Yes this could void a portion of you warranty. I.E. Drive train, and anything else effect by the increased torque from the gears.

A great post to read to so you fully understand what can and can't be done by a dealership with warranty issues.

I think the 3.73's are a better call for the L99 due to the lower first gear ratio found in the auto trans ...
Anyone know of a good place to get installed in So Cal ... ???

But it could also bring other problems such as vibrations that weren't felt before. I've also had them done to where there was no noise. But i've never gained MPG's, city mpg's stayed the same although they've only cost about 1 - 2 mpg's highway.

Doing the rear bushings also has a similar affect of adding noise with added noise since noise travels easier through delrin/poly bushings than through rubber.

$1400 is waaaaaaaay expensive. I can have 2 sets of gears (4x4 front and back) swapped out for $1200 on my truck. What makes these so much more expensive?

If your dealer isn't a dick the only part of the powertrain warranty this would void is the rear axle and rear differential.

There is a guy on e-bay that has new Richmond Gear sets for the 2010 Camaro SS. His price is $548.99 shipped. Both of the shops mentioned are a little on the high side for their services. What does Apex charge for the labor portion? Thanks.

Yes, you will need to get your speedometer re-calibrated. You can buy a tool that does it for around $300.

You also need an install kit with those gears so don't forget that. Also worth considering is what has the eBay guy done lately to support the Camaro community. This website and events like Camaro5Fest don't continue without sponsorship dollars.

We don't perform rear end gear installs at this time, but it a service we will be adding in the near future.

It doesn't have to be done by a high profile speed shop. Jump on line and check the yellow pages for specialty rear end shops or even a 4x4 offroad shop. Either of those would be very experienced in gear installs.

$1400 for a gear install is INSANE.

on my car you can get gears installed, everything included out the door for $500 and i thought that was a lot.

i think we should wait a bit for companies to start producing gears/kits for this car a bit cheaper, because this seems like the best mod ever for this car. for gods sake, the thing can hit 157 in 4th, 5th, and 6th. there is no reason to be turning 1300 rpm at 80 mph.
