I thought the changes made with the union taking on the benefits cost weren't taking effect until 2010. Even then, I thought GM still had to kick $30-40 billion into the funds to get it going. Right wow, GM is just trying to survive to get to that point. Somone please correct me if I'm wrong.

My Q is this.what good is a bailout if people are still lossing there jobs.if folks are'nt spending money on new cars what good is it.I take it most of you must live at home with mom and dad and i say this because a car has become the most importance of all things.People got'ta have jobs to buy cars. Two car dealers down the road just close the shop today.1GM dealer AND 1 DODGE dealer.

WOW, the short sightedness of a lot of folks on this board is scary. All I've heard is "If GM goes bankrupt will I get my Camaro?" I mean seriously? If GM goes, the other two aren't far behind. Am I the only one that realizes that's a bigger issue than whether or not I get a Camaro??!!!

C'mon people
We all realize that this is a huge issue, much bigger than any car; however, that said......this is a camaro forum....this is where we come to talk about the CAMARO

They have every reason to help...without the Big Three they have no jobs. So, no -- it's not smoke and mirrors; that's the real deal.

As for the thread; I'm not "worried" per say about the Camaro...bad things will happen...good things will follow, I'm convinced. Just write to your elected "officials"...and tell them what you want.

I don't think people do realize this is a bigger issue. What are you gonna talk about if GM goes belly up? I just hope people realize this will affect pretty much everybody and goes a lot farther than whether or not you'll get your car.

It's no wonder why they may not get the money. Sorry guys, but those 3 yahoo's would have been better off staying home.

How can 3 top executives of the worlds most powerful corporations arrive without a business plan to present. It's quite obvious they thought, " Hell we're GM, Chrysler and Ford and there's no way you can deny us what we want." Yeah, right.
I think the jet issue is being blown out of proportion. I’m going to go out on a limb and say these plains were company owned jets probably for years. They total cost of the round trip in comparison to the companies financial situation can only be described as insignificant. What honestly is the most it could have cost them? The price of three or six cars maybe. The heads of three of the largest automakers in the world don’t fly coach. I know it seems like it makes sense but it doesn’t.

It’s like being on the verge of loosing your house and getting a cheeseburger from McDonald’s instead of a quarter pounder to save money. It isn’t going to affect the outcome of loosing your house. It isn’t the same as those financial execs planning the half million dollar vacation while their companies were failing. These men boarded those planes in an attempt to save their industry.

Im hoping for the best right now because this car is like my dream. 2SS on order right now. GM will produce the Camaro; there is no doubt about that. The problem is "when" they will produce it. The orders are supposed to be coming into dealerships in march/april. I really hope they dont push production to a new date and then have to wait even longer than i have already been waiting for this car!!!

I just seen this thread, and this has been a fear I have had for the past couple of weeks...last night I dreamed GM liquidated, and I ended buying a new 08 Vette for $25k!

In all seriousness, this is very scary...somewhere down deep though...I think the Camaro will be a reality....but if production will start on time, as scheduled????

Aw, c'mon. They all run car companies, at least let them drive. ZR1 vs. GT500KR vs. Viper ACR. First one to DC gets the biggest part of the loan package.

The money they spent was just part of the equation. Like I mentioned, its the image they are conveying. They are out there asking for money and act like it shouldn't matter if they continue to live a lavish lifestyle.

No one said anything about flying coach. It was asked why they didn't jet pool or go first class.

We have to stop protecting and making excuses for these CEO's and drop the hammer. They need to step up and take accountability for what they did. They boarded those planes to help save an industry they were largely responsible for destroying. They boarded those planes because that's what they are getting paid million's of dollars to do. They are not hero's in my book.

$20,000 per flight if not more since that number is being conservative... There is no excuse for them all not being more frugal with the companies expenses.... First Class or jet pool would have been the best option for them and I would have gone further and flown coach just to show I am still human... "Ohh, would you pass me the Grey Poupon" said in the voice of the snooty Lexus commercial personality...
