Here's a pic of mine.
I tried it again today. It just does not fit well. Did you have to break off the plastic tab on the radiator to get the braces to seat properly. I just could not get the braces to sit properly on the radiator.

On the passenger side there wasn't even enough space.

So for now I'm driving without these things.
I agree I just added bolts with aluminum sleeves to the holes to hold down the intake. That'll keep it snug.

I actually had this problem once at a car wash. The car idle funny for a sec and I shut her down. Evidently water can get sucked up if the spray is directly pointed into the grill

I think it calls for the tabs on the radiator to be broken off in the instructions when installing the long bolts. I'm running without them as I didn't feel the need as my install is tight.

I'm not sure it's a secret as much as difficult to visualize. From what I can tell, the difference is in the back half of the housing. I would imagine the "tune" model doesn't work to keep the tube size near the MAF close to oem. They could make it bigger to allow more airflow with the understanding that the MAF reading will not be close to spec, but a tune will fix that issue. That's just pure speculation on my part though. I've never seen a 'tune' version in person. (although I am considering ordering that part in the future and can compare what is different).

backinblack - I wish I could answer that more accurately, but I didn't personally install it. It was done on the dyno and they don't allow customers to work on their cars while it's strapped down. I did, however, stand and watch the install for most of it. It didn't appear that the guy had any trouble getting the bracket off or back on.

I'll try to take some close up pics of my install from several angle using a real camera (instead of my phone) to see if that helps anyone.

Well, I am using L brackets, but just for shits and giggles I tried the long bolt method again. I remembered why I came up with another way. I have no doubt not having anything there is no problem. The hood itself when closed is also gonna help keep the unit in place.

It's no secret. If you search you'll see where VR described the difference between the two. But it should have said what it was on the label on the box.

No label on the box or anywhere for that matter, and I have searched and can't find what you say, care to show me?

He's saying... They 'should' have put it on the box. Mine just said VaraRam and not even a part number.
