That would be less expensive probably. Is it the computers that make the swap so difficult these days?

Couple of updates...
Finally found the right used motor and got it ordered. It's a 2014 model with 10,000 miles on it for $1,640 shipped(including $100 core charge since I want to keep my old one). Pretty good price I think. It should get here Wednesday next week. I also bought a ZL1 fuel pump, cost $230. It's tempting to cut an access hole... But I think I'll just pull the tank and do it the right way.

LKQ. I've bought a lot of motors from them over the years. They have good quality stuff.

Well LKQ called this morning and said when they went to pull that motor and it had damage from the accident. So he found me another one... this one is from a 2015 Camaro and only has 5,000 miles and they're going to sell it to me for the same price. Gotta wait till Friday or Monday now but this should be an even nicer one!

I use them a lot for customers who can't swing the $ for a new engine (or the car isn't worth a new one) and that's a great deal for that engine! Maybe there's just so many around that the supply exceeds demand. I'm tempted to buy a spare to take apart and tweak- port matching, cams and other silliness.

There are some exceptional deals to be had on these engines if you are patient. I bought my "spare" (now only) LFX engine for under $1000 shipped, 6k miles out of a 2012 CTS with the engine harness. Picked up a 2012 ECM for $60... Just need to find a manual transmission now and dump it all in something. I will have to change the oil pan though because it was an AWD CTS.

I'm really thinking of picking up a spare LFX as well, once I get my turbos I'll send it out to Morgan and sons they told me "we build anything"

And as far as putting the LFX w/ manual in a car if there was a way to put it in a miata it would be a fun car! And still be light!

So I gave my girlfriend my Cadillac and just sold her old Murano this morning, it was getting to the end of its life anyway. So I have another 3k to use on the Camaro. That should cover the custom pistons, balancing the rotating assembly and resizing the rods, torque converter, and all the tuning. Still need to budget for the rear diff/cradle assembly and cradle bushings, tie rods, etc. But I need to get all this done first and then try to run down the track a few times to see where I'm going through the traps so I'll know what rear gear ratio to go with.
