Gotta stop arguing and getting nasty about things - also gotta realize that this car is a test mule and not finished. not what they wanted the public to see...

This car - as I've said to people in my life, from the beginning - will have special meaning for me. I've waited on the Z28 release for one reason only - my dad. He did like the Camaro - and although mine grew on him (4th gen) he never really liked the lines. I think that he would have flipped over this model and I plan to buy one "for him" as well as for me.

He had a 1969 Z28 in Hugger orange with white stripes in 1969. It cost him all of 3,000.00 to buy. He wished he could have gotten the SS but he couldn't afford the 6,000.00 price tag on it - also he liked that the Z28 handled better.

He purchased the car with a 4 speed manual and would regularly take it to Vegas and lay into it on the stretch of highway 15 from Cali to Nevada and watch the gas gauge diminish with the increase in speed.

This car holds a great deal of importance for me -- and I knew, *knew* that the car in TF2:Revenge of the Fallen would be the Z28. That they were using that vehicle to showcase changes made to judge public response to what they had done - in time to be able to tweak certain elements. I for one am ecstatic for what has been done so far and I remember - in seeing these pictures - a fabled line: "Not the real headlights" - as we all argued over how s----y the "autozone" special looked on the car with reassurances from Scott and other GM people that "dont worry it'll look amazing, you'll be blown away!"

you gotta keep that in mind. Remember the past or you'll be doomed to repeat it - as we are doing here. Gotta stop complaining about all the problems, all the little things we don't see - realize that they have a plan, that there is a bigger picture and above all:

Have Faith

I've had faith in GM since I heard that the F-Body was being shelved. I knew that they couldn't keep the car away from the public for too long - it was too much of a part of Americana.

My faith has been rewarded so far, I just now have to figure out how I'm going to afford such a beast of a car. For me, for my father - god rest his soul.

To my dad - RIP F. Kent Nield (1947 - 2004)

I'm workin on gettin u a Camaro dad...I promise!

I agree that Dealer Gouging is probably going to be high!

That's why I'll patiently wait for the newness to wear off and possibly buy a slightly used one the next year or possibly pick up a used MODDED C6 Z06 that someone else took the depreciation hit on!

By the way, I wonder if GM just put a cover on a slightly modded front end and threw some badges on it to feed these forums. It'd be a Great way for them to dangle a carrot in front of us to get a feeler as to what we want in the Z28. If you think about it, it's a Great R&D idea and saves them from guessing what would sell cars. That's what I'd do if I were them!

Just my take on it!

Thats a huge premium to ask for this model vs the SS. Sure you are getting a factory supercharger but to increase the price nearly 15k over the 2SS seems like a bit crazy. I don't disagree with you but I think that is nuts. If you meant out the door then that seems about right though

What's the difference between a mustang gt and the gt500? Something like 18-19?

I don't think you were around for all the preproduction anticipation threads for the camaro. but it was horrible on how many people assumed the headlights on that were going to be production, how the interior looked in some spyshots was horrible also but the production interior is vastly superior to those first photos. but since GM is reading the threads it's a good idea to tell them what you'd like to see on the car. just don't throw out that I'm dissapointed because they aren't changing ______. you never know they might be. or maybe they get the idea and take it under advisement. if it's I hope they change ____. that would be cool. lol. like I really hope the drop the LSA and go with a DI v8 at 6.2 L. but I fully don't expect that.

oh well what I'm saying is my frustration may have come off as arguing and I regret that. I'm a simple man when it comes to expressing myself in words. not very delicate at explaining a point sometimes. but it's cool that we have this many pages on a Z28 thread. especially since it's only a few days old.

I agree with you and the reality is that most people in general who either don't know cars or just happen to who like cars really don't have a whole lot of knowledge of what really has to happen to get a car to production. I've been on a few forums including this one where some people assume things like when the New Explorer was still being tested a few months ago with a Taurus X body and Flex front end and people were calling it the new Explorer and going crazy. Same goes when the 5th Gen. was coming around and those people who didn't or still don't know about test mules or anything about the industry itself complained about what they saw on these mules as the actual headlights.
To this I do disagree with one thing though and that being that when I first saw the spy shots of the 5th gen. mules with the interior I thought that it looked terrible for the most part. I then heard oh it will be so much better when it's in the final product. In my opinion the interior of the production car is just slightly better then the mule not vastly. GM is aware of this and like most know is redesigning the 2012 interior.

I agree. The GT500 is in the mid 50's now. You'll be lucky if it's not more like mid 60's when the dealers are done ripping you.

So for us Canadians, probably in the range of 65k?

That's what I am planning for anyways. Seriously considering looking into an auto broker to get one from the States if our exchange still kicks ass. I mean my 2SS/RS came in at about 52 with taxes and all that.

Us Canucks are getting the major screw over on vehicle prices. We have been at or near parity with the US dollar for like 2 years now.

See then this thing becomes pointless in the mid 60's. You can get a Z06 for that which should out-do this Z28 in almost every category. Its got less power but its a lot lighter and more aerodynamic. Better cetner of gravity etc etc. The only thing would be the back seat and trunk....

Huge fail if it comes in at 60+

Yeah, probably mid 60's for Canadians.

He was talking about Canadian pricing, which is typically around 20% higher than US pricing.
