But oh wait a minute.....I'm not living in the real world here with GM and the Camaro am I? I forgot that part. This is the world where I bought my ticket and keep getting shuffled backward in the line b/c of the dealer cars (which is nothing more than a gouging racket), oh I must move backward again, this time for the rental cars, and don't look now, here come all of these Johnny-come-latelys who just now showed up to purchase their ticket while I've been standing in line since October, and they are walking out with popcorn and a valet who's on his way to deliver their car.

So now I've found myself close to the very end of the line, and why exactly? B/c of very poor customer service which is BAD BUSINESS! Come on GM, wtf are you thinking?

When (and I hate to say this) or IF I choose to keep waiting and the Camaro is FINALLY delivered, and then I'm out driving one day and run into another new Camaro owner and the guy says "When did you order?" and I say "Two days after you COULD order" and then the guy spouts off "I ordered in April and got my car in June-July", I will want to melt his two lips together with my fist.

Not only will all the Johnny-come-latelys embarass the pre-order people, it SHOULD embarass GM.

Now tell me again why I pre-ordered?
I want my car as soon as possible too and I ordered in October....BUT...people need to stop and think a moment. It would be totally unfeasible for GM to deliver cars in the order they were Pre-ordered (referring to your "buy a ticket and get in line" analogy). It would be financially insane for GM to attempt to ship one car to NC, then ship one car to CA, then another car to WI then a couple of cars to PA. For this reason, we're not going to get our cars in sequential order. I would think they would send cars to dealers in batches to save as much $ on the shipping process as possible. The delivery process is a very complicated thing and I have no better ideas on how to accomplish this part of the process.

With all that said, It does get to me that someone can order in Feb. or even March and get their car before me that ordered in October '08 and I'm still at 1100 but I have no suggestions on how to fix the issue because I guess it all depends on the dealership you ordered from and where they fall in the mix with GM.

very angry!!!!

ok, Im on this page a ton, but I dont post a lot because I dont really feel the need to. I have been following this car since 2006 with the wishes and dreams of owning this car. I finally get to order my car in oct, chevy delays production for a month with only an anouncement that came days before they were suppose to start building our cars in feb. They start to build our cars and then we get told that even though we have be loyalist and more than like the best damn source for advertisement and marketing that GM could possibly get, that we have to wait for our cars because they have to get a car to every damn dealership first, to get many many cars together for sporting events and all kinds of other stupid things. This is a huge slap in the face ontop of the horrible treatment that we have already recieved. If that isnt enough, my camaro is still at event status 3000 with no tpw...why, wish i knew.
I also find it really crappy that the cars that GM built for the dealerships are getting sold to people who havent been following or caring about this car, why be loyal and preorder if so jackass is going to come in and get there car before you?!? Why put my hard earned money down, in the worst recession since the 80's when somebody else is just going to come into the dealership and go.....huh looks nifty, Ill take it.....keep in mind this is the car that the dealership is suppose to be taking people out for test drives to help sell the camaro, instead of getting one more sold car that month. This isnt just my own dealership. I've called several dealerships around my area and found this seems to be a common practice. I find is sickening that I cant even test drive a car that GM sent to each dealer for the purpose of......test drives!! WTF!!!!......

I can say that even thought my love runs deep for the camaro that this feels like a crappy relationship that Im almost to the point of getting out of...GM needs to force the dealers to use the cars for the reason they were intended, or take them away and refund that customers money.....also build our cars, and stop building cars that people didnt already put money down on...GM wonders why they are sinking maybe because they are treating there best customers like dog crap.....

I know I will get heat for this, but I dont think I'm alone on my thoughts. Thank you for taking the time to read. Ron

This is something which I am sure is a great concern to GM. Unfortunately, the reality is that the Dealers are in effect buyers of product from GM. Who, in turn sell them to consumers. They are independent businesses. They have the freedom to do what they wish.

Not something many of us like, that is for sure. Hopefully, this should be a driver for change in the future.

As far as the pre-order kerfuffle, yes it is quite frustrating to those of us who have a great passion for this car. But, like I said in an earlier post, I will be getting the car I want, the way I want it.

I don't have to live with compromises by selecting one out of dealer stock. This is why I am so excited about this car. It is the first car I have ever ordered to my specifications. And I am 59 years old.

Try ordering a Honda or VW to your specs, I suspect you may get an even bigger surprise.

To those of you saying we should have known... here's a post I came across while looking for something else by TAG UR IT showing otherwise. It's about the v6/v8 confusion from the January IDL but there's one poignant line in there... "Again, all of the pre-orders come FIRST"

I know he's not a GM employee or dealer but when a prominent mod makes a statement like that and it's not corrected they might as well be. Point is, even those who are most in the know thought that pre-orders would be built first. And I'm sure there's a whole slew of posts in that thread backing him up.

be one of the first to take the wheel of this truly modern performance car.
choose your trim level, options and
color, then visit your local chevy
dealer to order your 2010 camaro
beginning october 13.

This is straight off of GM's website back in October. How does that not imply that Early Order Entry gets priority? It absolutely implies that if you order early you'll get your car early. I have no problem with the "one car per dealer" idea, but it has failed because most dealers didn't get theirs. You have dealers taking hefty deposits based on the previous statement by GM, then I find dealers taking delivery on 2SS cars that were ordered for their inventory and for sale to the public, while still holding the customer's deposit. I don't have a problem with it until dealers all over the country are still waiting for their one car, and others are selling 2SS cars to people off the street. I have a problem with it because I am going to end up with a 2SS before most of you who ordered before I did ever even get a date on yours, because I made a few random phone calls, and I'm flexible on color. I called around today, all over Mississippi. The following were my findings:
Brandon, MS: has one Yellow 2SS being shown for two hours this afternoon, then customer is taking delivery; no other cars, no "one per dealer" car. Considers today to be unveiling.
Jackson, MS: has one covered Black 2SS in showroom, belongs to manager, no other cars, said they were waiting for GM to call and give them permission to uncover it.
Vicksburg, MS: Said they don't have a car and that GM emailed them and told them the unveiling would be 5/11. They cancelled the big event they had scheduled for tonight at 6:27 pm CDT, which included a 68 coupe and 69 convt on the showroom floor next to the new car they didn't get. Does have a Black 2SS/RS in transit, apparently from Memphis, that they just took a deposit on yesterday.
Canton, MS: no car, said the closest one to look at was Hattiesburg.
Brookhaven, MS: have a black 2SS on the showroom floor, sold. No other cars
Louisville, MS: said GM put off the unveiling until the 16th of May
4 other North Mississippi Dealers: said the unveiling was postponed until the 16th.
THEN, one of the dealers, which is for me to know, called me back and offered to sell me a loaded 2SS/RS IOM @ MSRP, also in transit (from Memphis TN, which is just a few hours away, expected 5/8/09.
WILL I CANCEL MY ORDER PLACED 11/3/08? Absolutely! Will I ever trust GM any further than I could throw them? Absolutely not. This car is for my son, who for reasons I won't elaborate on, has earned it, and so I am a buyer. But GM will never grace my fleetyard at my company. Ethics.... it's more than a perception.

This is the complaint thread. I feel much better now..... :-)

if we are going to use a ticket/order scenario, think about the "fast pass" thing they do at theme parks. you come up and essentially pre-order a ride on an attraction instead of waiting in the big long line with everyone else.... then an hour later (usual time after getting the fast pass ticket) you go and get in the fast pass line.... all the while there are people who got in line 59 minutes ago and just waited while you went and did other things and they sit in the rail car right behind you.

I'm not defending how the system works, just trying to explain it better. GM should build all pre-order cars before regular "in store" sold orders, but, a preorder is just a contract stating that you will get the car you want. thats it. just an agreement that you will get your personal copy of the car.

there's countless statements on here by mods, veteran members, noobs, etc that are not corrected. there's how many threads/posts on this site? the fact that Scott and a few other GM members are willing enough to come on here and comment AT ALL should be thanked to the heavens. they dont have the time to filter thru each and every thread like some of us do cus we arent busy trying to get a brand new vehicle on the road while at the same time trying to stay afloat in the sea of financial bs.

there's also a better poignant line in there...

Immediately following the build and shipment of V6's to dealers (which won't take long), they will begin building OUR PRE-ORDERS...V8's and all! Again, all of the pre-orders come FIRST. GM has already "fixed" V6 to V8 build #'s to better suit demand. Geez....they WANT to sell the darn car and make money.

once again. IMPLIED doesnt mean squat.

what the "first to take the wheel" means is that before the majority of the buyers of this car get to own one, you can.

what I want to know is exactly WHO on here did not pre-order but is already driving their car. I'll even start a new thread just for that sole purpose.

Thats a pretty big stretch don't you think? I didn't think "first to take the wheel" had an official definition..

Dealer should not be letting people and mechanice to FU** with your car. It's sold. Don't touch it!
