The funny thing about having tint here in Iowa...

If you drive a "hooptie" on the east side of Waterloo, you NEVER get pulled over for tint.

If you drive a normal car, on a normal road, and are a hard working person with no criminal record... you get pulled over for tint every time.

Talk about reverse profiling.

I guess I just don't get it. Here in AZ, we don't exist to make life easy for cops. Even if most of them are OK, this is not a police state where we live for their convenience.

Here is a solution. Just become a cop. Then you can break all the laws you want like the "above the law" Jack-Booted thugs some of these cops can be. Speed where ever you want to with out lights and siren on, violate peoples civil rights under false pretenses, etc.

This is just like the gun control dipshits. A idiot commits a crime with a gun. So the logical thing is to take guns away from everyone just in case anyone that owns a gun decides to be an idiot.

The way the tint law should be stated is: If you have tint, you should have to lower you windows in the event of a traffic stop. That way your civil liberties are not trampled, and the cop is afforded his safety measure. Win-Win. But liberties and freedoms of the common tax payer will be set aside for every minority group and interest that grumbles the slightest complaint. And this will continue until the taxpayer becomes the minority.

Again, I'm not meaning this as a personal attack--just curious about your particular viewpoint and your background. I hope this doesn't offend, it's certainly not meant that way.

Society sides with the officer. They are trained to enforce the law that the majority agrees on. If you disagree with the law, odds are you are a habitual breaker of the law.

Law enforcement is handed out evenly, fairly and within the specified boundries of the law. Even if the bully is handing out tickets, as long as he is handing out legitimate tickets it is the right thing to do. If illegitimate tickets are being handed out, it is for a judge to decide. What the average person uninvolved in the case thinks is irrelevant.

My background is irrelevant.

1st of all:

You got your warning......you ignored it......Now you can pay the price for CHOOSING to leave your illegal tint on.

Stop whining about it. It's not like your hometown is a metropolis and the cops will never see you again..... You rolled the dice and you lost.

2nd of all:

And you have 20% tint on your car in a no tint state. (Besides the factory tint) 20% looks like you painted the window black as opposed to legal 70% tint. And yes you can tell when a car drives past you.

Lastly:

People need to take personal responsibility for their own actions. The cop didn't cause this, the OP did. He made the choice to run with illegal tint, and he even got stopped 2 months ago for it and warned to take it off. He didn't take the tint off, so he got a ticket for it. Now OP is trying to blame the cop for the OP's mistake.

I have always been a supporter of LEO in general but I have a hard time buying all three of those statements.

It's too late by then. They have already seen your illegal tint if they have lit you up. They just don't care about it where you live.

...on top of that, when LEO's are organized, budgeted, and managed (encouraged) to augment shrinking local tax bases by "taxing" socially and fiscally contributing members of our society, then my support for them diminishes.

I fully respect honest police officers. The key word being "honest." There are however, those out there, who aren't quite right.

They can be anywhere, big or small town. It makes no matter.

I have run across them and my spouse was victimized by one who followed her home from work one evening for no reason whatsoever other than to harass her.

To the good upstanding Officers out there , you have my utmost respect. To those who have a less than honorable agenda or somewhat questionable means about you, sorry, you have compromised yourself and the public for whom you serve.

I always hope that the percentage of bad apples is low and will always be such.

I usually like to read these threads but don't get involved in the arguments...but what a freakin' fairytale this is. Truly remarkable...worthy of recognition.
