And again you guys keep adding stuff GM can't do. A cam and ported heads simply ups the cylinder pressures to levels that aren't warrantable for 100,000 miles. I know you guys all want to pull in these comparisons. A guy that used to work for me bought one fo the very first Z06s. Took it home and immediately replaced the cam and put in some headers. Awesome car to drive. But it ain't as durable as the base LS7 and it's lopey and shakes and may work for a few of you, but it isn't world class for NVH by any means. GM can't offer these after market mods. Only you can elect to give up durability, GM can't. Again, I love the passion and thought........................you're just comparing what GM can do vs. what someone over at Z06.com says he did in his garage last weekend. Not the same.

please go back and see where i quoted you, you were the one that compared ls7 to ls9. gm can add a cam and a set of ported heads and have a safe motor.

Oh you said safe not durable. If GM could simply polish the heads and add a cam and still meet all the rquirements for a world class engine don't you think they would? Of course they would. So please guys quit thinking a 2 minute engineering change is all it takes. Don't you think GM knows all the hod rodding tricks? Heck they invented most of them. And sorry if I fat fingered LS9instead of LSA. There are other threads claiming GM is a fail for not having the LS9. Getting close to quitting trying to help you guys understand the GM perspective. No one seems to want to understand that GM has far more requirements than you and your Snap Ons do in your garage.

You know how it goes "Can't please everyone"? There's a select group of people that don't place a value (or don't realize) on durability longevity...they can't understand how OEMs do things. |

![]() Because they don't engineer and build 2 and a half million cars every year in the US, right? Believe me...while the aftermarket is impressive...they are "unrestricted" and free to do whatever they want without worrying about warranties or what have you. GM can do anything they can do...BETTER. Take it to the bank. The problem...and the reason you don't see it (and I imagine won't believe it), is because they DO have to worry about durability, emissions, longevity, etc. All the restrictions and constraints the aftermarket doesn't need to deal with. |

I don't have any compaints and already have my deposit in at the local dealership (at MSRP!)
It would have been beyond reality to have my dream LS9 in there, cost wise, so I'm happy with the LSA and re-engineered drivetrain. Love the Mag ride and dual mode exhaust! One suggestion, I would order Recaro buckets like the ones in the CTS-V if they were optional. To a job well done I say thankyou to the design team. BTW my car in my sig has 550 HP, runs 10.9's and 1.4x sixtys, weighs 3880 lbs and is a mild mannered streeter, just for comparison to what we're getting in the ZL1!

Whats up first time post. Great Site, been watching for a while, but had to post on this thread because I've been waiting on this car.
I want the auto that set the record in the CTS-V at the Nurburg ring. I dont drive a stick, and i dont think Chevy should loose money because they only cater to one kind of buyer with this car. Give me the same set up no crap about saving gas if I was worried about that I would buty a Volt. |

The only criticism I have for this new model is the interior. The suede just doesn't work in my opinion. Don't change anything else. Unless, you want to add ABM paint to the line up again.

Granted I absolutely love this car, but I wouldn't mind if a few things were tweaked.
-remove the bowtie on the steering wheel -do something about the grill. Right now, it has the same one as a $23,000 LS. The ZL1 costs twice as much so I think it deserves different grill along with all of the other cosmetic upgrades. The Leno grill would be great, or make something to match the lower grill. -Like others have posted, change the fog lights/DRL's to LED's. It would be much cleaner IMO. Now I am really gonna nitpick. -I love the wheels, I just love the SSX wheels better! -I think it would look good if the interior stitching matched the body color. That would add a lil bit of contrast opposed to changing the entire color of the leather.

I think GM did a fantastic job with the ZL-1. I think the ONLY thing I'm not too concerned with is the spoiler, just not a fan. Everything else is just simply amazing. I really wish a LCD monitor was an option though atleast...
