But, I know the answers to these questions would not deter me from buying the car. 50lbs more?...100lbs more??? I don't care. $350 more in cost to strengthen the roof? Sure. I'd be happy to pay out of pocket. But I do know that when I'm driving down the road, I want that entire area open. I want to be able to turn my head to the left and back and have open air w/ no blind spots.

I'm with you TAG

One of the things i like about the GTO over this Camaro unless they change the production model.
I know about window motors...changed them out once in my SS and the passenger side is going out now too.

BUT, I'd happily send the car back to the dealer to change out the motor if it goes out. Plus, with technology, GM can easily make an interior removable panel which allows access to the motor. It shouldn't be difficult to do that and I'd imagine they'd have to in order to get the motor and parts in there.

I can't comment on window rattle. I've never experienced it in the passed 7 years in any of my Camaros.

But, don't forget that times are changing, technology is better, the build will be better, parts better, etc. This is a whole new car. I'll take the potential probs any day over a fixed window.

i forgot you have an SS TAG so yeah you already know about the motors. I didn't think about a removable panel though....that's a good idea. don't get me wrong i love the idea of the rear quarter window coming down. But i just base everything off what i know and have dealt with and it starts getting to be a PITA after awhile. But at the same time when i am able to get a camaro it will definitely not be a daily driver that's for sure.

Oh, I didn't get you wrong and I sure hope you didn't get me wrong either!!

I sure as heck know where you are coming from w/ those d@mn window motors. Roll the sucka down. Get to where you are going. It goes up 7/8s of the way...and .... waiting.... still waiting....and nothing. Right now, I have to turn off the ignition and turn the ignition back on in order to even roll it up another inch. Turn it back off and back on to get it up another 1/2 inch. Then, I wait 10 seconds and try it again. It rolls all the way up.

I know...I HATE these motors. I'd say just about the majority of 4th Gen Camaro owners would agree to that.

Mine will be a daily driver and windows will be down, I'd say, 75% of the year. I drive w/ them down even in the cold, cold weather (like the cold). Hopefully it'll happen. Probably not....

My dad replaced my window motor, it got pretty bad before replacement too. It was just like you are saying Tag... Rolls down really slow and rolls back up about 1/2 inch at a time, like it has to "recharge" or something. Sucked ass. Hope the 5th gen doesn't have any problems with it. But every car has it's own problems, if the window motor is the most of our worries then I would say we've got it made pretty good.

I voted yes. But Honestly, I don't think I'd use them that much unless there were controls for them on the Driver's door (lightbulb goes on). I'm not crawling back there every day to roll down the last 1/4 of my windows...no way. But I'd still love to be able to, you know?

I wonder if there is a way to politely ask other sites to get their own polls going about this...(cough) camaroz28.com (cough) Scott's usual Hole (cough) That way, GM could get a much bigger picture than 14 people saying they want their windows down...

i think they will roll down, there is plenty of experience with this in convertibles, i dont see why it would be hard to do in a coupe.
