If you have C&C package then you'll lose Bluetooth for hands free phone if you remove the Onstar module.

Correct me if I am wrong. This sounds like a 2 step process. buy a radio with blue tooth capabilities then remove onstar.

I disconnected onstar a year ago. However to cover my bases guess I need to do the lawyer thing and fire off a letter that states they are not to monitor my system for any reason. Pressing the button does not leave paperwork if I need to take them to court later.

Or just call the 1-800 number to make sure its 100% disconnected, record the phonecall, and save a copy of your itemized phone bill.

Are you seriously that paranoid that you have to get a lawyer involved?

If you still want Bluetooth for hands free phone then it's a 2 step process

I think onstar should be a requested option not already installed in your vehicle. If you want it get if not then dont. I highly doubt their really watching us like some government conspiracy. Besides wouldn't it be illegal!

May be easier to just pull the OnStar fuse.

OnStar Terms amendment

Honestly folks... it's not a big deal. You have OnStar in your vehicle, if you were really *THAT* concerned about privacy, you wouldn't have purchased a vehicle with the system, period. Also, if you're not doing anything that might be questionable, then why worry? I've found that the only people that are worried about this kind of thing are doing (or have done) things that they probably shouldn't have. :bangdesk:

I am in law school so not a problem getting help from a professor Also, not paranoid just who should make any money off my data when I canceled you and not given you rights argument. Plus dont trust them for holding to what they say. They kept harrasing me for over 2 months after I canceled them and told them not to call me.

Did we have a choice? No, It wasn't as if a delete onstar was an option. I would have checked it if I coudl have.

IOW, if you have nothing to hide, you shouldn't mind the full body cavity search.

For those who are cancelling their subscriptions, you can pull the fuse associated with OnStar after you notify them you have cancelled. That should disconnect the data-logging function. It works that way on the Corvettes.

I like them too. They've been useful in getting me places as I travel and keeping the thieves away. And my insurance rate is lower from it to.
