Yeah.. Definitely no good in the snow. Even on dry pavement.. 1st and 2nd gear are useless, especially now that I installed the DSS 9' with 370 gears.. I have to run nitto nt05R's all the time.

Off topic since we are talking about the LS9 cam here but still nice sounding none the less.

Can anyone else confirm no low end tq loss who has the cam in their car? Also I've heard something about the car's brakes if you go with too aggressive of a cam....something to do with vacuum..? If this has stock drive ability and no low end tq loss, I'm in!

for those who are interested i found this thread on ls1 tech, this is on a 6.2 maxx towing package pickup. so the numbers are trough a 14bolt rear, an auto trans, and of course a much taller heavyer tire than a camaro. if i read the thread right they had headers intake and tune and then added the ls9 cam and re tuned. picked up 43 hp! looking at the dyno chart it appears that it did not loose any low end. it really peaked my curiosity about this cam.

but then again this is the internet and there is no telling if those gains are real

You must be a NOOB, my car lade down 420rwhp with just headers catback and a cai, so another 20rwhp with a cam is very possible even with a little ls9 cam....... and there are small cams that dont require a tune to run the VE table wont be off that much and yes you will be leaving some on the table but its not going to blow your motor. Just go back and look at the GM hot cam for the Ls1.....

Although I never dyno'ed my car in stock trim, I do not feel my car lost any low end grunt with the LS9 cam, if anything it picked up power across the board. I will tell you that LT's with HF cats or no cats will instantly bleed off a small amount of low end torque ( idle to maybe 2000 rpm ). However their gains above that more than make up for it. It's hard to have your cake and eat it too, big cam = loss of some low end power in exchange for much greater top end HP. The mild LS9 cam feels like and drives like the LS3 cam but adds a bit more power across the board. I'll say this again though, if you have to pay someone to install it or you want a lumpy idle, look at a different cam as the LS9 cam idles smooth and it only yields 15 to 20hp over the stock cam with headers and CAI BUT maintains stock like driveability and street manners. If you are looking for big HP numbers, look elsewhere.
Large overlap cams reduce engine manifold vacuum especially at low engine speeds. Power brake systems using engine vacuum for assist sometimes required an add on vacuum reservoir to maintain proper brake boost.

Ok guys good and bad news, no more ls9 cam for me! The guy has not contacted me on it and it gave me a few more days of research! I feel that it was ment to be though, I called lunati and talked to tech. Told them my hole story and he said I can run there voodoo 222/229 .567/.567 on a 113. He said that this cam will run with stock ls3 springs and stock tune, only thing I need to do is check pushrod length! He said idle will have some lope and it will make very good torque. Sounds like a winner to me, going to get a tune but I am gonna try it on the stock tune at first, he said this cam is on the edge for a stock tune on a ls1 and that the computer on the ls3 is more aggressive and because I have more cubes I won't have any issue. I will be the ginny pig on this one!

Ok....good info. Keep us up on how it works. Definatley want to hear some video.

How much is the VooDoo cam? I'm guessing it's going to be close to $400. What about expected HP increase. Did they think you would get more than 20 rwhp?

How long until you get it and put it in?

Yes, this cam will definitly make a some good power. My guess is at lest 450hp with a killer torque curve at the wheels, a few threads I found with guys running them in 6.0s and ls1's were running 11s at about 115.... Bolt-on ls1 with this cam and ported heads were at the 400 mark, thats pretty solid for an ls1. Also from what I found was everyone said the torque is very flat right though the hole rev range, thats pretty much in line with what the tech guy was saying! Also I found the a few people were running the ls3 springs with this cam with no issue's... so from what I was told from lunati and from what I found online, looks like this is good choice! I also found a video of a LS2 gto running this cam on the stock tune, its sounded great, had a steady idle with a little lope... no info on how it ran on the tune but when he reved it she sounded very clean.

The cam is about $350 shipped on ebay, plus you need to convert it to 3 bolt. Hopefully I will have it soon, I need to save a few more bucks but I should have it in within a month or so. I will post vids for shure.

Ok great news! Found an old thread about cams, they dyno tested this exact cam in a ls3 and it made 515hp 484tq on the engine dyno! He said it had a great idle and it was also ran with the stock springs and pushrods! He said this cam makes great torque and thats what you need to move these heavy pigs.
