Ok I am finally in!

Agreed.

My stance - I am plunking down the $60K to have a ZL1 for a number of reasons of which one was it's uniqueness! Now somebody just pissed in my Wheaties!

Agreed. I have a Camaro SS too and I've done all kinds of dumb s**t to it because I expected more and decided short of getting rid of it I'd just build it into what I want, however, the fact of the matter is at the end of the day it's just a hunk of machinery that's an enjoyable tranportation vessel. Nothing more, nothing less.

With that said, I can understand why someone would expect some level of exclusivity (especially if that's what they were sold on) considering all the hype that's gone into the ZL1.

People actually believe the ZL1 has technology, and parts that can't be obtained for the SS and that's not 100% factual.

That's the message I'm getting from the OP's write-up.

This is the same person that admitted putting SS emblems on base 1st gens. because the general public doesn't know the difference.

I get beat in most of the local car shows by a 1967 Camaro with SS emblems, rally stripes, spoilers, a 327 and 15 inch wheels. I have never protested the car and never will. If the parts are available it's going to happen so get over it.

Not sure why people do this type of stuff, I prefer to have the real thing (or better) rather than pretend.

My 2SS/RS looks stock from the outside, under the hood is a different story though, and I assure you all the letters on stuff under the hood are the real McCoy. The only thing I'm changing on the body is the non-functional spoiler, and the mis-matched front lights and "if" I were to change the body it wouldn't be ZL1 parts I'd probably do a Hot Wheels wide-body kit.

I think there really isn't much that will tranfer over to SS, like the MRC and electronics for the PTM and LC; EPS, too. We'll probably see a lot of that stuff trickle to SS in the future, and I'm not totally sold on MRC for the life of the vehicle. I'd still prefer some rebuildable remote reservoir coil overs. Someday, those MR shocks will need replacing or the PCM/BCM will need the same, and what's going to happen after GM discontinues producing these parts and supports the software?... HELLO AFTERMARKET!!! Still - I'm enthused the MRC is on ZL1 however, because I think that's all I could reasonably expect to come from the factory; I would've been equally happy with the coil overs, though, lol.

Yes this is another bumper thread. If it bothers you to read then i would ask you not to continue reading. I have taken great comfort out of being able to help others regarding all camaros, not just 5th gen.
Today i found myself doing some soul searching as to why the
Whole bumper/poser saga had me so upset. I had to ask myself
Why this would annoy me so. I came to the conclusion that i was shocked
To find people adding zl1 bumpers to a camaro when the hood, fascia, bumpers
Are not interchangeable. Directly to my point. I have lied to you.
On purpose? No. Where did i come up with the lie? Chevrolet.
I realized that i had defended a lie repeatedly on c5. More than once.
The question? Are the hood and bumpers from zl1 interchangeable on other models? My answer every time? No. Why is my answer no? Because "no" has been passed down via c5. You see i held on to the lie that zl1 owners would have something unique as we would not even see other camaros down the road sporting the zl1 fascia. If the answer to the question would have been "yes"
The bumpers hood fascia are interchangeable, then what would be to defend?
We could all look forward to some ss models and lt models having the front end appearance. So. My sincerest apology for defending what i thought was to be truth when it wasn't. The truth now. Is the front bumper zl1 fascia interchangeable? It appears to be true given by the photos.
Good day.
Why are u concern of a lie.
The lie is others trying to have what still won't be a ZL1.
Adding a fake bumper to a car is like adding fake halos to OLD cars.
Whatever blows up each others skirts as your only fooling yourself, not others!

There are different levels of enthusiasm from enthusiasts. Some are more casual while others are borderline obsessed and consumed. With the line about you comparing your car to a microwave, I'd say you lean more towards the casual side.

Regardless, we all appreciate these cars with various degrees of passion and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

i agree completely! especially about the synergy green part!

I compare it to a microwave because they are both objects that serve a purpose. If they had aftermarket doors, LED buttons, better outlet fans, or a faster turn table for it, I'd probably get it to customize it to my taste, to get it just the way I like, but I would still let people use it when they came over :-) Trust me man, I'm a car enthusiast. I love cars. It's been my passion since I was 3 years old. I dragged all my die cast toys through 5 years of war in a backpack with me, and I brought them all with me when I migrated to the United States. I still have them and I will pass them on to my kids. I love reading about cars, I love driving cars, I love looking at cars, I love talking to people about cars and I love working on them. But at the end of the day, there are more important things to worry about and stress over. Does it make me happy to own a nice car or to buy things for it? Yes it does. Does it make me happier than spending time with my family or friends, or a nice vacation? Hell no. We all have our priorities I guess, mine are just different.

I say make your car however you wish. Who cares if an ss sports a zl1 fascia. Besides plenty of ss models would walk any factory zl1 in a straight line so badges and fascias mean exactly zero.
