folks, this is the reason why our country is hated around the world... we think we have a right to assault everybody and that they should get over it... it doesn't matter if it's a car exhaust, barking dog, motorbike, 18 wheeler, etc making the noise, keeping someone up and preventing them from being 100% effective at work can damage their lives and their family's ability to be successful...

I've been holding off posting on this topic but I can't resist.

1. There is always at least two sides to every story

2. If you live within an incorperated area there are usually ordinances that you have to live within.

3. One should have the expectation to not have to endure un-natural or excessive noise at any time of the day. The fact that it was night has absolutely nothing to do with it. The fact that one has to work the midnight shift and get in bed @ 7-8 in the morning should in no way lessen his or her privilages to a decent period of sleep.

4. If you want to drive your vehicle in a spirited fashion it'd be a good idea to get out on the highway somewhere away from crowded neighborhoods.

5. All of the above is the exact reasons that I live in a situation where I can and do stand out in my lawn and fire off various types of firearms night or day and fire up what ever type of vehicle I choose and have been doing so for over 25yrs without one single complaint.

6. If your going to live in a city situation then expect city problems and learn to get along with your neighbors or move. jes my .o2

Disturbing the Peace? It's all up to the cop's interpretation. I lived in a "gated" community with some pretty strict homeowner's rules. One was no loud noises after 10PM.

I solved the problem by moving to a rural area where distance between neighbors is measured in yards instead of feet. If there is still a problem, I'll move even further out where distance between neighbors is measured in terms of miles.

Here nobody minds loud cars. Only loud barking dogs get police attention after 2 a.m. when everyone is home from the bar to report it.

I found it amusing and in my neck of the woods, we dont call the cops. Its handled the old fashioned way . Unfornutaly I left b4 I witnessed a beat down but my friend did tell mgmt on her way out.
Seriously?

That's a somewhat silly take on what is something very disturbing. Tormenting someone like that is exactly why some older folks look sideways at teenage (or there abouts) kids. Think about it.

A lot can be learned by travelling down life's pathways. You have a very long way to go.

lol there is the honesty haha...

Depends man, if he has a stall and a cam, that could be rough at 11pm if some people are going to sleep. I only have LTs, but have a good relationship with my neighbors. I wouldn't start it up after 8 once I got the cam in... But if I was the neighbor I would have kindly approached and said "hey man, I gotta sleep", and if you got testy, then call. Most people are far too scared to take the chance even if they know the neighbors.

Glad you got a cool cop though...

Relax man.. In this case, OP mentions his father was revving or showing off for family from out of town.

It is cheesy as hell for someone to call over this, but I also think we take a level responsibility to show a little respect once we mod the car past the point of open exhaust or headers.

Reality is with enough complaints cops will start dishing out tickets if your exhaust truly is this loud... glad OP got a cool cop.
